Annoying Words/Phrases

Post by Skippa »

Here are some of mine:

A lady at my work place, in the cube next to mine always says “Maaavelous” with a fake British accent. I am so sick of hearing it that I get goosebumps every time . For instance, this morning:
Person: Karen, John was looking for you. He says he’ll come by after his 10:00 meeting
Karen: “Maaavelous”
Me: :x
Some other words/phrases that I can’t stand to hear/read
- Whatchamacallit
- Whatshisface/whatsherface
- Literally
- Shaxaari, thanks to Snet abusing it.
- “You have a collect call from…”
- A lot of the nonsense that people around the workplace say/write to sound smart like:
- Leverage
- “Positioned/well positioned” (ex: we’re well positioned to leverage our B.S. into more B.S.)
- Strategies
- Integrated solutions
- Service model

Xamaraawisms like a "dh" that's substituted with an "r" (ex: yiri instead of yidhi; ari where it should be "adhi" etc…) or words like Maahinoo (maha), an extra "hayaa" with some words like "wuu dagaalamahayaa" "wuu ordahayaa"
Hargeysaawisms like "d" or "t" that's changed to a "dh" (ex: saladh for salad, bullshidh for bullshit)
Djiboutisms like "keeneenii" (keeni/ours) "kiiniinii" (kiinii/yours) "koogoogii" (koogi/theirs), "waxaa lagaa idhi" (waxa lagu yidhi), and the general nasal duufle tone "waar heedhe dee huuno, heedhe yaa, hooyo waxay kaa tidhi, galaaseerkeeneeni ayaa naga kharaabee biyo noo dhaami huuno oo in yaroo milix (emphasis on the lix) ah kubaayad noogu shub yaa?"

"Swag" and "YOLO" ( Get the fuck out and the McDonalds employment line is that way moron----->)
