Because these talks were orchestrated by the international community particularly the European union they are forcing both Somalia and Somaliland to talk and open dialogue about their future relationship , Somalia doesn't control these talks nor does Somaliland controls these talks. They are the mediating factor in these talks , the only decision Somaliland and Somalia have in these talk is the talking part and they are allowed to decide where to hold these talks neutral ground in Europe or in Ethiopia Kenya or Djibouti maybe south sudan.

The international community doesn't care about shabaab they want shabaab gone thats why theY send troops to Somalia. But Somaliland is a vital ally in the war against terrorism and piracy and is a country with good democratic credentials.
Somalia and Somaliland can agree on many things since they are neighbors we can let the status quo continue than both Somalia and Somaliland will not be winners or come to an agreement and the IC will bless it and it will strengthen both SL and Somalia.

You dont have to repeat the same mistakes you have done you will be crushed in Somaliland and only body bags will be send to Somalia. Somaliland loves peace in the region but it will never submit to a foreign ruler. By the way Somalia has not the resources nor the money or the strength to fight against Somaliland it will take at least another 10 years before it has a strong Military, currently they are dependent on foreign troops. When you dont need foreign troops you can threaten Somaliland and Somalilanders will take ur threats serious. Somalia and Somaliland will not go to war because Somalia is a country that consists of lose components and states puntland galmudug Jubbaland these states have no interest to waste their resources to fight against Somaliland and why would they. Nor is the federal government of Somalia interested in that. They care about peace and stability in their country. Somalia has been in war for more than 21 years . do you think when they get peace they waste another 21 years to fight against Somaliland. Talks are good and i am sure they will agree because Somaliland is not crucial asset to Somalia, Somaliland doesnt landlock Somalia, like what Eritrea's independence done to Ethiopia , nor will Somalia lose oil fields to somaliland like when south sudan broke away. Only a piece of dessert land will break away , u should be happy less resources u have to share with qaldaans. dont take me wrong Somalia people are good people and there will always be social union between Somalilanders and Somalia. heck my first wife was from Somalia. And the 2 countries can agree on lots of things trade perhaps in 30 years time same currency economic integration.

The foreign minister will only prepare the talks on Somaliland the president and deputy parliament speaker will lead the talks at least thats the word coming from hargeysa
