I'm furious! witnessing shit teams like anzhi, zenit st peterburg and psg spraying money on mediocre players gets on my nerves (anzhi bouught Wilian from Shakhtar for 35mill euros, whilst zenit paid 90million euros for Witsel and Hulk last summer) i mean look how inflated the football market is nowadays.. Real Madrid and Man City are each spending almost a billion euros every summer on players, am i the only one who thinks the death of football is near unless UEFA/FIFA changes something.

It started long before Anzhi and Zenith, so if those little teams want to compete, they have to spend that kinda money. Go for it

It started with Chelsea and they won the Premiership after they have not done in 50 years prior to that. Since then it's well known fact that money buys you championship. I won't be surprised if PSG win it all this year

Willian is a quality player, perhaps not worth 35 mil but as you said the market is inflated. The real tragedy is seeing teams splash 12 mil for Chris Samba or 20+ mil for mediocre English players (Henderson, Carroll...).

Football is becoming extremely boring to watch anyway. World Cup 2010 killed the game by introducing us to ridiculous defensive tactics. Teams like Spain or Barca play beautiful yet boring football. I don't want to watch a game where one team passes the ball horizontally for 40 minutes whilst on the edge of the opposition's box.

Teams like Dortmund, Shakhtar Donetsk and Chile is what football is about. Fluid, exciting, skill-full and fast-paced football. Thank God we still have the Bundesliga.

Brazil 2014 is the last hope for the beautiful game.

I wouldn't even put it all on Chelsea. Real Madrid, Man U, etc. have always been shelling out big bucks for players.

As for Barca, a few years ago they were a joy to watch but now that everybody knows how deadly they are...teams just sit back and pray for a draw. This means boring 1 sided games with 65,000 useless sideways passes. Gimme Ronaldinho's tricks & turns back. Triangle passes (Xavi, Iniesta, Messi) are only fun for a short while.

He's a decent player, notice the "perhaps" which shows hesitation in his presence on that tiny list. Let's just say I didn't wanna be too harsh on a side that was once adorable to see play.

Shirib- Man Utd spent big because they got the money from their football operation so I can't blame em at all. But Chelsea just splahsed like 300 million and the money came from the owners pocket. Big difference !

Anzhi, Zenit, PSG.. they want to become real title contenders in european games.

Chelsea did it well and planned, it paid off.

Madrid do it for business. They spend to earn, thus they come on top as the club with largest revenue per year.

Man city is stupid and retarded. they spend wealth on a average or top player bench him then sell him for half his price.

But most stupid is Liverpool and United, they buy shit quality players such Carrol, Jones, Zaha, Bebe for large amount of money.

Dortmund and Barca produce the finest football atm.

anzhi and zenith are delivering the killer blows, you can't just say go for it.. it is just wrong to spend that amount of money on players and even the salaries are getting out of hand.. if FFP doesn't fix this how do you suggest UEFA could stop this madness or do you suggest football should inherit a laissez faire attitude when it comes to finances?

The Milan of the early 90's were a joy to behold much better than Ajax, Dortmund and Barca

football has been dead for a while - the last great world cup I watched was 1998 followed by 2006. Also the quality in the champions league has gone down (bar RM and Barca), just 4-5 years ago every tie in the knockout stages was mouth-watering e.g. Chelsea vs Barcelona (2006), Liverpool vs Milan (2005+07), Man Utd vs Real Madrid (2003) etc

pirlo, vidal and marchisio play some mind boggling football, if they don't win the CL this season.. i think they have a big chance next season with Llorente joining them in the summer they are definitely a team to watch out for
