I applaud these Somali entrepreneurs for investing in this much neglected sector. To have an idea of how under-exploited the fishery industry in Somali is, allow me to relate an incident which yours truly has personally witnessed. Well, I was in Ayl, in Eastern coast of Somalia, couple of weeks ago and was staying a hotel/restaurant sort of establishment within sight of the picturesque seashore. Imagine our surprise when, upon ordering a lunch, we were told not a single dish of fish or any other seafood for that matter was on the menu. We had to settle for the more traditional camel and goat meat instead. Not that there is anything wrong with camel and goat meat, but a little variety would go a long way.

but our water is constantly being poluted with chemicals, which consequently affects the quality of fish and so coast guiding our sea is absolutely vital for the fishery industry's market to be maintained.

At the EU assembly Hassan Shiekh said he is still waiting on aid to remove foreign containers that may contain toxic waste.

Yep, all the chemical waste from nuclear experiments are all put into a sealed container and then thrown into unsupervised seas.

If it was normal waste they would of recycled it, but they can't recycle bio-chemical waste

Hassan Sheikh will be waiting a long time if he thinks the EU are gonna help remove the toxic containers.....the waste is from the EU.

I doubt that anyone can get rich selling fish to somalis but, if fish was my thing, I'd go into bluefin farming and export to the lucrative far east markets where a single one can fetch 5 figures. Those pirates in Ayle should diversify
