Sister qabiilkeeda ka xishoooto Hydorgen!!! in arabic the word SHEIKH simply means(Old man) this arabic word ( SHEIKH) was in use before Islam.. even arab christians use this arabic word(sheikh) to honer their elders....so nothing wrong calling old man a sheikh.

Who cares what religion he adheres to? He's not even talking about religion AT ALL. :mindblown: :mindblown: His message is very simple and the people on this forum should embrace his kind and meaningful words instead of dismissing him because he's a kafir. There are people much worse than him including your beloved al shabaab.

I wasn't specifically talking to you. I was referring to the pseudo-Islamists on this forum.

I hate the Western designation of the word "Islamist". If we clearly define the word, we'll have to break it down. There is "Islam" and the suffix "-ist".

Islam: means "submission, entrusting one's wholeness to another" which would be to Almighty Allah. Islam is therefore a religion of submission to God.

"-ist:appended to a word, it yields a noun which signifies the subject who performs something related to that word".

So an Islamist would be a person who practises of the religion, similar to how an artist is someone who makes art. Today, however, it is used and hugely associated with terrorists and militants in the minds and speech and writings of many. This creates an inherent association in the minds of many and in dialogues between Islam and violence and corruption. This is perpetuated by politicians and the media, who so often serve the interests of politicians. This is incorrect, aids in the spread of ignorance and prejudice about Islam and Muslims, and further creates ill will towards Islam, Muslims, and Muslim-majority nations. Some might say words are simply words but language is very powerful - it shapes our view of the world, ourselves, and others continually throughout our lives. Connotations and common phrases often aided in preserving the mentality of societies that has maintained the oppression and suppression of minorities and discriminated groups. Just think of all the words associated with "blackness" or "black" (ie. ghetto, uneducated, loud, unruly, criminal, unintelligent, unattractive, etc) and then observe the common attitudes (whether covert or overt in their manifestations) people have towards blacks, especially if they use these words or associate it with blackness.

So, as Muslims, we know our religion better than non-Muslims which is why we chose to be Muslim, to practise Islam. So let us not use the word "Islamist" or "extremist" - as "extremist" might suggest one who practises Islam very closely and thoroughly, which is incorrect as such observance would lead to opposite behaviour but I digress. :-O

TLDR: As Muslims, let's not use the words "Islamist" or "extremist" as they associate Islam with their behaviour when their behaviour deviates from the teachings of Islam, despite their deluded claims. True observers of Islam would follow the path of submission, peace, and justice, not evil violence, hatred, and terrorization of people.
