What is your personality type?

Post by CushiticReflections »

Perhaps because I am an introvert, I find that life is just as much about learning about one's self as it is about learning about others, the world we live in, and the universe in general. Some insight, I believe, can be gained through personality typing. MBTI is very interesting and can help us learn more about ourselves. If you haven't already taken the test, here is a link with only 43 questions. It shouldn't take more than a few minutes:
http://www.worldpersonality.com/

So what is your personality type? Do you find the results consistent with your own knowledge about yourself?

I haven't taken this test in years, lets see if things changed. Shit, it's still INTJ, well that was waste of time.

I don't think that's a waste of time. Personality types don't usually change, although in some cases they might. I should've guessed you might be an INTJ from your posts. Do you find the following to be true for you?

"INTPs live in the world of theoretical possibilities. They see everything in terms of how it could be improved, or what it could be turned into. They live primarily inside their own minds, having the ability to analyze difficult problems, identify patterns, and come up with logical explanations. They seek clarity in everything, and are therefore driven to build knowledge."

"INTPs value knowledge above all else. Their minds are constantly working to generate new theories, or to prove or disprove existing theories. They approach problems and theories with enthusiasm and skepticism, ignoring existing rules and opinions and defining their own approach to the resolution. They seek patterns and logical explanations for anything that interests them. They're usually extremely bright, and able to be objectively critical in their analysis. They love new ideas, and become very excited over abstractions and theories. They love to discuss these concepts with others. They may seem "dreamy" and distant to others, because they spend a lot of time inside their minds musing over theories. They hate to work on routine things - they would much prefer to build complex theoretical solutions, and leave the implementation of the system to others"

Two introverts already, I'm shocked! lol A little tidbit on ISTPs in case you haven't read up more on it:

"ISTPs have a compelling drive to understand the way things work. They're good at logical analysis, and like to use it on practical concerns. They typically have strong powers of reasoning, although they're not interested in theories or concepts unless they can see a practical application. They like to take things apart and see the way they work."

"ISTPs are loyal to their causes and beliefs, and are firm believers that people should be treated with equity and fairness. Although they do not respect the rules of the "System", they follow their own rules and guidelines for behavior faithfully. They will not take part in something which violates their personal laws. ISTPs are extremely loyal and faithful to their "brothers"."

"ISTPs like and need to spend time alone, because this is when they can sort things out in their minds most clearly. They absorb large quantities of impersonal facts from the external world, and sort through those facts, making judgments, when they are alone."

Actually, I don't think that description means that ENTPs usually like to work. Consider the following description. I'd say it shows a type that likes to think and understand but doesn't usually care to follow through with their ideas. Would you say that this is true for you?

"As an ENTP, your primary mode of living is focused externally, where you take things in primarily via your intuition. Your secondary mode is internal, where you deal with things rationally and logically."

"With Extraverted Intuition dominating their personality, the ENTP's primary interest in life is understanding the world that they live in. They are constantly absorbing ideas and images about the situations they are presented in their lives. Using their intuition to process this information, they are usually extremely quick and accurate in their ability to size up a situation. With the exception of their ENFP cousin, the ENTP has a deeper understanding of their environment than any of the other types."

"This ability to intuitively understand people and situations puts the ENTP at a distinct advantage in their lives. They generally understand things quickly and with great depth. Accordingly, they are quite flexible and adapt well to a wide range of tasks. They are good at most anything that interests them. As they grow and further develop their intuitive abilities and insights, they become very aware of possibilities, and this makes them quite resourceful when solving problems."

"ENTPs are idea people. Their perceptive abilities cause them to see possibilities everywhere. They get excited and enthusiastic about their ideas, and are able to spread their enthusiasm to others. In this way, they get the support that they need to fulfill their visions."

"ENTPs are less interested in developing plans of actions or making decisions than they are in generating possibilities and ideas. Following through on the implementation of an idea is usually a chore to the ENTP. For some ENTPs, this results in the habit of never finishing what they start. The ENTP who has not developed their Thinking process will have problems with jumping enthusiastically from idea to idea, without following through on their plans. The ENTP needs to take care to think through their ideas fully in order to take advantage of them."

A typically gregarious type. Would you say that this is correct for you?

In what ways? Similar types would also be the INTP.

Is it just me or aren't Somalis typically extroverts? You guys are killing that stereotype for me. :)

Thanks, I will read it to expand my knowledge on some types but I prefer to use the other site as their descriptions usually better help beginners become familiar with the MBTI types, in my opinion.

Good luck with that, as for me I find the whole thing to be pointless, cause a psychometric personality test doesn't define who I am, in my opinion.

Nor do I think that that a personality type may define who anyone is but I do think that it may provide insight to some individuals, as it has for me. Anyways, Peace to you.
