meatless dishes..

Post by zulaika »

red meat is such big part of the somali diet, i've successfully reduced the meat consumption in my house to 1 week per month(meat week).. some folks think i've gone mad..and my aunt warned me that i'm risking my marriage if don't serve meat every night.

anyways, here are some meatless dishes i love to prepare..

you make dinner for your husband  bless your little heart,

I have been eating meat for the past 4-5 days, and not just meat in suugo, I am talking about a whole plate of hilib ari every and beef, but I ate a bunch of veggies, I hope that offsets the unhealthyness of my diet.

No offence, but if i was your husband you have been divorced by now. No way i'd enter a marriage to turn into a lifeless goat. No meat no eat, simple as that.

Don't get rid of the meats but consider having replacements.

I've started to replace ground beef in my spaghetti sauce with lean ground turkey. It tastes the same too. I don't even notice the difference when eating it. Try it. I only did this by chance since ground beef was done. It's like half the price of ground beef too.

Put some sweet and sour on that too on top of your baasto macaroni and BAM!

Delicious.

Gave up red meat completely when I was 13. I eat just chicken now. I'll eat a steak and cheese sub or burger once in a blue moon but thats it.

I eat meat once a month. To overcome my need for meat, I eat more beans. I love eating red beans cooked Swahili style, Maharagwe and walle it tastes like goat. I have lost 10 lbs, BP is down by 10, I feel more energetic, my sex.ual drive is boosted, and I am quite happier since I started eating less meat in the last two months.

I don't think I've ever seen my freezer w/o any hilib in it. I think my mom will cut milk, bread and eggs before she gives up hilib adhi.

Looks good.

I rarely eat red meat as well. Some beef here and there but my diet consists of mostly chicken, turkey, and tuna.
