Federalism will forever cripple Somalia

Post by Talo alle udaa »

This is the cold truth. It was started in hotels in Ethiopia & Kenya to "solve" Somalia's problems.
We can already see how much energy this young government is putting into trying to appease different factions. The president should be honest with the Somali people and put forth a referendum on the constitution.

The Issue is one of trust between the Somali tribes. How long will the Somalis run away from each other to solve their problems?

Federal Somalia is weak Somalia. I am still trying to figure out as how to the folks who are screaming for federalism can miss this.

The President unfortunately has to appease everyone or risk being labelled as a tribalist.

Its not fair for those that fought against centralism in the late 80's to lobby against federalism.

People fought against facism, not centralism.

I think this federalism idea would work if every sub clan had not decided to form Maamul Gobaleed. Is Bar Bar yaac.com

It's an asinine governing structure especially the way Somalis interpret it. Even the examples of federalism that Somalis refer to like the UAE have strong central authority when it comes to issues of foreign affairs, defense, and trade.
