Suggestion On Improving The Forum

Post by SimplySerene »

Here is a suggestion on improving the quality of the forum.

When someone is new to the forum maybe there should be a limit on the number of post they post per day.
For example the limit can be 3 posts per day until they reach a total of 50 posts. After reaching 50 posts they can post as many as they like

The purpose is to encourage people to really think about what they are posting before they post it. The forum is a great opportunity for members to connect with other Somalis. To many people are abusing the forum.

Just a suggestions. I have no suggestion for the present members who are abusing the forum

I don't think the problem has anything to do with new users.
I think that too many forumers don't pay attention to the forum rules. I've pasted the forum rules below:

1. Treat other members with the respect they deserve. This should go without saying, but treat others like you would like to be treated!

2. Please do not spam. The definition of spam is an irrelevant or advertising post. Any post considered spam will be removed

3. Insulting and flaming or personal attacks against forum members and staff will be not tolerated.

4. Please be considerate in language and content you use on the forum, some of our members are younger than others.

5. No hacking or illegal activity will be permitted.

6. Please do not post inappropriate material, I think everyone understands what I mean by this. The policy goes that if you would not feel comfortable viewing it at work, or in front of children or parents, don't post it !

7. Changing the course of discussion by injecting hate/vulgar language, clan BS, racism, personal attacks, etc will NOT be tolerated. You cannot ruin discussions just because you have some beef with the author. Please, stay on topic!

8. If you see inappropriate material on this forum and you don't report it, you should not come back days/weeks later and accuse moderators for not removing that offending material. As a member, you are expected to help the moderators. If you refuse to help, then you are not in a position to criticize the mods for not doing their work. This is a busy forum and the moderators are not online 24/7, so please do your part if you see conduct that is detrimental to SomaliNet and it's members.

9. Post in the appropriate forum for your topic, and don't post the same messages in multiple forums. Don't create new threads if the same one already exists.

10. Respect others' privacy and don't make private information about other users, public.

A lot of the time, the quality of threads are diminished due to people going off-topic and just insulting one another. This is a forum for general discussion, not insults. There does to be some bullying going on that's a little too common. If people just followed those ten rules, this forum would benefit greatly from it.

1: Make a sticky "Official pissing contest thread": A thread where everyone can showoff their f-king little village or goddamn autonomous state and post pictures of it and whatnot. And anyone who makes an exclusive "Oh look at my village, isn't it beautiful thread" and doesn't post it in the "Official pissing contest thread" gets their thread deleted and gets banned. And while we're at it, let's delete ALL "Gobolada - Provinces " sub-forum.

2: Let's make a sticky "Official qabyaalad thread" where everyone can enjoy their pathetic little poop flinging and diss each other's qabiil all day long, and anyone who engages in qabyaalad outside of this thread gets automatically banned.

3: Anyone who makes racist or sexist thread gets banned. No Exceptions.

4: Make a sticky "Official Ouch Right In The Soomaalinimo Thread": A thread where everyone can post video/pictures/articles/stories about somalis being, well, retarded. And everyone who makes an exclusive thread about some retarded shit like youtube video of somalis chicks fighting or some shit like that instead of posting that shit in this thread, gets their thread deleted and gets their account banned.

Oh who am I kidding, nothing will change, let the fuckery continue. :stylin:

When someone breaks the forums rules I am going to start reporting posts and quoting the forums rules before I report them. I will try this for awhile and see how it goes. I can put in some volunteering time.

It would help if others do the same.

Don't say that. You actually make interesting threads about news or interesting events/occurrences. You don't seem to contribute to the hateful posts here but instead you're a meaningful contributor.
