Spruces in Africa? They are native in the northern United States and up in Canada. They don't even grow to it's full potential either in the eastern seaboard and that place is known for its forests.
The spruce wouldn't survive in East Africa despite that region being infamous for it's invasive species. If there are evergreens in Daalo, something is very wrong.
What he means is cedar trees, cedar grows in middle east in particular Lebanon its their symbol on the flag, probably there is a native name for the tree but this old dude is a city boy.
