Jokes aside some have dismissed the importance of this great step for the new Federal State of Somalia. Claiming that it is symbolic or insulting for Somalia to be denied heavy weaponry, some even mentioning Somaliland having some of those weapons. To those people, you either are short-sighted, or you have farts for brains. The real significance of the lifting of the arms embargo is not Somalia being able to buy more weaponry. Frankly we don't have the resources to equip a modern Army. The reason why Somaliland and Puntland are jealous is because this opens the way for the SNA to be trained and equipped by Nations such as Turkey which have signed bilateral military treaties with Somalia.

Also more importantly, the reason the UN is only easing the embargo, is because it wants to not panic Amisom which has a monopoly on heavy weaponry, and heavy commitment and presence in Somalia. Nevertheless, they are also paving the way for the SNA to take over from Amisom, which was an extremely expensive necessity.
