Siad Barre wasn't responsible for 1988

Post by Lionheart10 »

He was involved in a major car crash that left him unable to do most of his job. Thus, Mohamed Ali Samatar was given the responsibility of making several decisions. He even admitted to being the mastermind of the bombings in northern Somalia.

AP , Associated Press
Jun. 21, 1986 10:01 PM ET
ROME (AP) _ Somali President Siad Barre has been released from a Saudi Arabian hospital after recovering from injuries suffered in a car accident last month, the Somali Embassy here announced Saturday.
An embassy statement said Barre would return to Somalia in 48 hours.
The 67-year-old president was injured in a car accident near the Somali capital, Mogadishu, on May 23. Mogadishu Radio said the president's car overturned in torrential rains. At the time, a Saudi newspaper quoted Saudi doctors as saying Barre suffered head and chest injuries.
Saudi Arabian King Fahd sent a medically equipped airplane of the Royal Saudi Air Force to transport Barre to Riyadh for treatment.

It happened in 1986, and it led to a power struggle between members of the SPRC and his immediate family and clan.

Did he diminish mentaly or just phisiscaly.Funny enough I was listening to a report during Samatar's recent court hearings and there was ine man who was qquoted as saying
Barre was against the extreme measures that Smatar was calling for i.e Air sorties against the North bit it was Samatar who pushed for them since he was the Defence Minister
Allahu Aclam though.Laakiin at the end of the day the buck stops with the head of state

You're getting close too their cards Lionheart10.

That airstrike is the key tool for indoctrination for their offspring and is 'key' (worthless in my/most somalis eyes) to secession (a Disneyland obsession)

So are you trying to say it didn't happen or are you trying to say it wasn't an important period in shaping the history of Somalia?

History and life is made up of excuses to disguise weakness...The whole SL project.
The reason why a certain clan wants succession (taking other clans hostage on both flanks) is because they can't hold their own weight and DEMAND power which is rightfully theirs - equal power(even federalism is accepptable - which will happen).....So they decided to start a enclave and share power between 1 clan. Pathetic.

Noticed he did not adress neither of Lionhearts questions but rather went off in another meaninglies tangent.Which has nothing whatsover to do with the subject at hand.Typical tactics of the cowerd and the sneak
