According to the authentic history books of the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) he was among other things; a spiritual leader, a warrior and politician.

I think you are mistaking the (western) secular system with the Somali (islamic) system.

In secular system- religion and politics are segregated.

Whereas in the Somali (Islamic) system religion and politics are not segregated.

So from a Somali (Islamic) systems point of view the sheikh has not done anything wrong, but from (western) Secular point of view he has done wrong.
