The same subclan of ONLF is dominating nowadays the politics in jubbaland in south somalia backed by kenya.

Ethiopia has a different view that it may become a base for ONLF so before engaging in any meaningful relationship with jubaland the ONLF must be disarmed and the ogaden struggle must come to an end.

Kenya and ethiopias insistence to make administration for jubaland instead of the somali government directly raises many questions, they are attempting to create for them an alternative country and the method to achieving this is through IGAD.

Kenya and Ethiopia are at odds on Jubbaland, Ethiopia still does not support the conference fully but they also cannot directly sabotage the conference as this would collide with the interests of Kenya which supports the process.

Its true the Ethiopians and ONLF will probably negotiate for the second time again maybe later this year but the Jubbaland issue has no bearing on these negotiations, its simply the second phase of the first failed talks.The are two factions in the Ethiopian Government one that wants to end the conflict through negotiations and another faction which is composed of war profiteers who want to continue the chaos.

Everytime Ogadens took over their lands inside Somalia every other clans like dir, daroods and hawiyes was screaming ONLF is in here to Ethiopia, that's one of the reason for why Ogadens will have one of the big shares in Somalia politics if they put their arms Down. The Somali region would be 70 percent under Ogadens and so would the Jubaland state, the Ogaden bensin would be 50/100 shared and the rest under Ogaden. The ONLF was fighting for an independent state since 1994 and has been fighting ever since then.
