So earlier this evening I was at the masjid praying Maghrib. After salat, I went to my car and proceeded to back out. Little did I know that the masjid's parking lot became cidhiidhi as f#@! and as I tried to maneuver my way out, I ended up backing into a minivan. As I get out the car to assess what the heck just happened, an irate farax rocking a t-shirt and macawiis (it's been quite warm here lately) came to me screaming about how I messed up his car that really isn't his as he borrowed it from a friend, and said that this will require a bunch of repairs (side bumper was pushed in a bit) and blah blah blah. He demanded my drivers license and tried to get my insurance til his friend said to not get me in trouble. He also said that he was gonna call my aabo about it. However, his friend told me waa iska caadi and they're gonna take it to a garage that will do it for cheap

So what do u think is gonna happen? Do u think this farax will take it to the popos, even though there was an open container of jaad that he was chewing; do you think he'll over-exaggerate the repair costs to get more money out of my parents or do you think he'll just let it slide and show me some naxariis

Insurance would skyrocket as it was my fault. I was too caught up in the moment to take pics or even demand his drivers license...basically my car got zero damage and his rear bumper on the passenger side got pushed in.

Since this happened at a parking lot and not on the open road, chances of the police issuing a ticket or doing much about it is slim to none. If he has your insurance, there's a small chance he'll try to file a claim, your insurance company will contact you to verify the specifics of the accident, and if there's no police report -- it becomes your word against his. You can fight it off. If he contacts your father, you tell him his tired old ass was chewing khaat & he caused the accident. Don't let anyone shake you down for more than they're entitled to. Never admit to guilt even if you did it, that is for the law to decide. Next time someone tries to come at you yelling (regardless of whether they are Somali or not), you do the same and tell them to do their worst. Without a police report, he has no case. You can sleep peacefully knowing this.

I once backed into a parked car and ended up leaving my information for the owner. Guy calls me up and tells me I'm off the hook as he appreciated my honesty and the damages were minor. So don't listen to Anarchist and just be truthful, it is what it is. Just try to deal with the guy first if you don't want your insurance involved.

Man paranoia does wonder wallahi. When I came home, I saw a police cruiser on my street (I live in an area with little police activity), I've been hearing sirens (probably a figment of my imagination) and I just heard beeping noises - which I thought was a tow truck pulling away my car. But yeah I told my dad about it and he hasn't killed me...yet lol. Insha'Allah if everything works out, the repairs won't be that much and I'll be willing to contribute to the costs of it since it was my fault lol.
