So this is a Dhaanto from Jubbaland Youth event in Minneapolis last month, and according to family members there, the event was a bit slow in terms of music until this. This Dhaanto thing runs in our veins. I see little nephews of mine in there he worn born here yet playing it like they are from Har Geele
Check at 4:48 how the DJ gets into the Dhaanto groove!!! Amazing!!!
This was recorded on a cell phone so if anyone can get a better version of this Dhaanto, I would appreciate!
the dhaanto has rendered the men of somaliyada galbeed useless. this dance has made them forget the miseries and oppression carried out against them on daily basis. these guys are no better the Masai who just dance their lives away. infact the masai can jump of fire which is quite something. this dhaanto has made men feminine uff it just doesnt produce fighters. just a bunch if skinnies who refuse to fight only dance.
i am against dhaanto. this is why ethios am-xaars and stamping on our faces. please stop this dance till we liberate somaliyada galbeed.
I think I posted about this years ago, but I wills ay it again: Unlike many folklore Somali dances, Dhaanto is unique and all the Afro/Caribbean beats came from Dhaanto. That is the main reason most DJs would love to create Dhaanto beats. There is an old version of Dhaanto called Rigeeya and many cultural experts believe that is where the name Reggae came from. Here, in this video about 30 years ago, the great singer Sulfa is talking about how Bob Marley and Peter Tosh stole our culture. Start at 0:45
If you know how to move with Reggae beats, you won't won't have any problems dancing with Dhaanto beats.
