I feel like writing Shabab a long, detailed, public letter

And sending that letter to all the main Somali websites including those rumoured to speak for the Shabab.

Do you think I am getting in over my head by getting involved in these things even in that little way?

Basically I want to argue why they should stop fighting, join their people, and try to achieve their aims non-violently. I want to let them know they have lost the war and were never going to win it. I want to show them they have become the opposite of what they want to achieve---that by their very presence, it has become easier to have reason to control, influence, and take advantage of Somalia.

That the Somali nation's biggest threat right now is the presence of Kenyan troops who want to turn Jubbaland in their puppet state and Shabaab's existence allows the Kenyans an excuse to be here.

I want them to stop attacking Somali troops but look at them as boys whose strength will lead to a Somali which becomes free of foreign troops. If our boys are strong and control their lands, there is no reason for Uganda, Ethiopia, and Kenya and therefore the disappearance of the main reasons for Shabaab's formation---fighting foreign troops.

I want them to leave the administration of village and towns they control to state governments nominated by the government so peace reigns, there is one administration, and people find security.

I want them to renounce violence, disband their political organization, and join their people in the new peace. If Shabaab have a political vision, let them compete their vision and non-violently try to influence.

In the meantime our number threat which is foreign troops who want to take advantage of us will not have any reason to be in our country anymore especially Kenya which has become and even worse threat to Somalia's independence then Ethiopia could ever be.

Do you think I should pen the letter?

go for it niyaw alshabab may be dangerous bunch but they aint smart enough to trace your pc and ambush you in your comfort zone

I am not even worried about. Besides why would they attack me or anything of that nature? You haven't even read my post huh...just the title?

They would not listen to somali shaikhs few years ago. Sh. Gacamay aun sh. Idiris sh. Umal sh. Shibile and 16 other shaikhs went to hamar and tried to do what you are suggesting now. They ended up getting a lecture themselves on how they are anti islam blahh.

In 2008, they were at the height of their power. In 2013 it couldn't be more different. I want them to be pragmatic and sensible. Pride aside, they have lost.

I want them to quietly disintegrate what is structurally left becausr even in defeat, the presence of their structural residue allows Kenya to be in Somalia and set us up for a new period of conflict and problems. I want Kenya to be told to leave and I want Shabaab to make this possible by liquidating the reason for Keny's presence and beginning rape of our land..

Ugand burundi and ethiopia are also in Somala. Why do you not speak of them? You cant hate certain foriegners while harboring another. Thats called false patriotism and hypocrisy.

Bro, Ahmed Madoobe is a Somali national and he has a right like any Somali to be in Kismaayo.

The last couple years, a huge problem has awoken in the name of Kenya. Our sea coast, the boundary dispute, the wikileaks release about Kenya oil interest, the attempt to make a coast guard with UN funds in our name to have jurisdiction over a long time in our coast, they control Kismaayo port and airport yet they do everything to prevent government influence including turning bsck planes and allowing charcoal export to proceed in defiance of UN embsrgo, etc etc etc.

Al Shabaab mudt liquidate itself so the Somali government can tell Kenya to leave immediately. The root of all evil in the future of Somalia will be the presence of Kenyan troops and Shabaab is the onkly reason thdy are legitimately there!

Now Shabaab cannot fight them and lost conventionally everywhere else....so what is a better strategy for Shabaab? Still stay somewhat structurally existent even in defeat and be the reason that Kenya hss a chance to rape Jubbaland or disintegrate what is left and provide the space to allow the Somaki government to tell Kenya they are no longer needed?
