mad mac-- why our girls cover themselves?
i see u wer on both the threads started recently about muslim women. since u weren't u'r usual offensive self, im gonna share a little story with u.
the quraish did not place much value on women. in short they were property, and not very valuable ones at that either.
the prophet (pbuh) was distressed at the way his society treated women. he observed that when his people sold a camel on the market, they would cover the animal up in beiutiful garments, but women were also sold. when they sold their women, they would strip them of their clothes. he saw the way the animal was given preferential treatment by his people to women.
the quraish were morally very base, but practical thinkers and they knew that the camel could provide food, was used to travel and required little maintenance. they viewed women as a burden, good only for bearing children
the prophet (pbuh) preached that women should be judged on the merits of their character and not solely their superficial characteristics. he said that they should hide their beauty from the oppressive stares of men who would treat them as sexual objects.
so u see....... he was in many respects probably the earliest known advocates of womens rights.

I understand that, and I understand the logic behind the edict. What I am saying is that clothing is a PERSONAL CHOICE! If a woman chooses to cover herself because she regards it as her Islamc duty, or for practical reasons, or both, that's fine. If a woman likes to wear a mini-skirt, that's fine too. That's all I'm saying here.

you damn right everything she does is fine but fine for who fine for the people to see her private parts or fine for her so that she doesn't get in the blazin fire and be in the promised Garden for whom does right

Mac of course u think it’s okay. People are generally influenced but what they wear by forced factors from their environment. So wearing a skirt isn’t not a big deal to you. People like to generally follow
the norm of they surroundings.
So Mad we don’t care what u are saying, because we follow are our own norms and beliefs.

i realy dont get it why people feel the need to explain their beliefs to mad mac?
this guy is one of the oldest serving member in snet, and the only reason why his so hard headed is that he realy think he can persuade people (skinnies) to forget about their Islamic values...
mad mac can write for america, as he never gets tired of talking about the same topic till the cows com home; his very patient and tries his best to explain his side of the argument, but always fall short of making any sense
i have to give him credit for his Unyielding dedication to his one man mission!

Are you paying attention? I am not saying you have to change your values and start wearing "western" clothing. What I am saying is that what someone wears is THEIR BUISINESS. Let me put it this way. When the French barred hijab from public schools, you didn't like it right? You thought that impinged on their freedom right? Well, barring mini-skirts does the same thing. You can't have it both ways.
