I just read the article posted by Hiiraan, about the IGAD and them backing the government on state building. The article has two parts, the first on a statement of what IGAD supports and how it supports it, and the second part an analysis of how this could affect what is on the ground.
The first part is nothing new, IGAD in their special communique have already supported the govt on it's stabilization plan, and have made it clear that IGAD will be play a subordinate role in the state building process. They mention no quote or mention of Jubbaland in this part.
The second part to me seemed to be an opinion of what this means on the Jubbaland issue. I think that the author of the article jumped the gun on this one. What the IGAD delegation will come out with will be made clear with the next IGAD meeting, and I doubt that it will happen before.
Honestly, nothing new was said.

Re: On the Alleged Igad report
Sahan, attack my reasoning and not my person. Ad Hominem attacks are a rhetorical tool used to discredit someone and therefore taking attention away from their argument. I made a simple suggestion, let us not jump the gun. The IGAD conference will/should happen by the end of this month, and then we will know the conclusions of the "confidence building" delegation sent to Kismaayo.
It's quite surprising that the results would be made public before the conference. Not the typical protocol I have to admit. So I have my reservations, and urges of caution. Let us just be a bit more patient.

Point taken .
IGAD has no other viable alternative but to support the government .I don't have to wait for a "communique" . I don't give a @#!*% about the potential wording of a fuc,kin kenyan saving face clause in it either.
The gov of Somalia should run the sh,yt in Somalia and everybody who is a player in Somalia should get their ass behind it .

I agree. IGAD has no right to set their own agenda for Somalia, they must only facilitate the governments wishes and plans, or stay out.Magnusomalius wrote:Point taken .

Hassan Sheikh has lost all legitimacy in the eyes of J/Land people.
He has shown himself to be an ardent clannist, jeopardising the hard won peace and freedom of Kismayo people.
Nothing less than full autonomy will suffice....Igad or no Igad.
