The protest by the Blue party is continuing, its peaceful in nature and replicates the previous friday muslim protests.The difference is the muslims used friday prayers as a pretext, this protest which still has elements of the muslim movement is a more united opposition with protesters from across the political and religious spectrum but the question is why now has the government decided to take a hands-off approach after suppressing the people for so long.It could be a change of policy from Hailemariam desalegns faction heeding to the pressure of its western backers, nevertheless the protests are not a fatal blow to the regime but its brewing and unfortunately when issues get difficult this government won't hesitate to down protesters as in 2005 especially the TPLF which is feeling the heat these days.

Meles Zenawi eliminated all opposition either with fear, death or detention, it seems like the opposition is finally getting some oxygen to the lungs.
