The simmering tension between the Government of Mogadishu and that in Nairobi over the establishment of Somali’s breakaway State of Jubaland has gotten intervention from a likely source.

State of Jubaland President, Sheikh Ahmed Madobe, has said Kenya is not behind the establishment of his newly breakaway state.

Madobe, who was recently elected President of the semi-autonomous region, defended the Government of Kenya and the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) from claims of backing his administration. In an interview with The Standard, the Jubaland leader said the establishment of a federal state in the South of Somalia was in line with Igad’s four-year marshal plan of restoring stability in Somalia.

He said the creation of a strong administration based on federalism was mooted in Addis Ababa four years ago during an Igad meeting that was attended by the then Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia and presidents from the region.

“The only role that Kenya and Ethiopia have played is the provision of troops who have helped in flushing out the Al Shabaab elements from Jubaland,” he said.

The Ras Kamboni brigades’ Commander, who was Kenya’s key ally during the incursion against Al Shabaab by KDF, also denied allegations that Kenya’s military was abusing and mistreating his people.

“KDF transited into Amison and there have been no incidents of human rights abuse by either KDF or Amison,” Madobe said while accusing some elements of the Somali Government of working in cahoots with remnants of Al Shabaab to taint the soldiers’ image.

Madobe denied allegations of secession from Somalia and said external donors who include Kenya did not fund his election at the Kisimayu University.

Kenya has repeatedly denied being behind the creation of a semi-autonomous state to act as a buffer zone against the Al Shabaab militants who threaten regional stability through their terrorism activities.

An MP recently went to the Somalia Parliament and displayed pictures of what he claimed was proof of KDF’s abuses on the people of Jubaland, but Sheikh Madobe distanced his administration and KDF from the photos.

Madobe said he is looking forward to working with the Government of Sheikh Hassan Mohamoud (Somalia President) through a federal regime system.

We oppose you only in politics. That is the main difference between daroogo and us. They hate you so much that they want to kill you again, but we say no isaaqs are politically wrong however that doesnt give us right to attack them.
There were no isaaqs helping us when we kicked out afweyne(leader of socalled "faqash empire") from xamar all the way till Kenyan border.

We dont need a ally who wants to balkanize Somalia. A ally that wants to keep Somalia united from Amxaargaysa till Raskambooni, such ally that hates the kenyan project is more welcome.
Again, this cagdheer issue can be solved when HG's pick up weapons. It is Cayr which they fear the most.

First we shall see how diplomacy will solve this matter. When the time of talking and diplomatic efforts are over, every clan will go back to the weapons. Back to darkages.

An isaaq who is helping Hawiye to beat jebertis.

Isaaq do not need to help Hawiye , they can help themselves they have the capital and their Ugandan brothers

If the hawiye wins and remove the Kenyan proxies from Kismayo, thats good, they have helped themselves.And no daarood state in the far south, that is good

If the daarood win and the Kenyans help set up a state there , than that is good to , Somalia will for ever remain weak, thats good to. That also means no daarood would ever take the lead of the SFG. the hawiyes will always lead the SFG.. Kenya influence in Somalia


Isaaq and hawiye relationship is a cold one but on some key issues they agree, one some others they strongly disagree

Somalia as a whole is a hostile state towards Somaliland , because we have no diplomatic relations but we prefer the hawiyes to lead it since they are the lesser evil.
You have to understand for hawiye it doesn't matter Somaliland they dont live there, and some of them are just madly inlove with the dead Somaliweyn. And some prefer to have an alliance with isaaq with in the old Somali dissolved republic. And some are just emotionally attached to the old Somali republic.

But the daarood have extreme hatred for Somaliland they wish it burned they call for the demise of Somaliland there is a fundamental difference between daarood and hawiye. Thus isaaq also loves the misfortunes of the daarood

For isaaq , Somalia means nothing , if Somalia disintegrates stays together it doesn't matter the old generations might show some sort of affection and value some sort of Somalinimo , but the young generation doesn't care much about Somalia , marayklanka ka ibiya bay ku leeyihin ama muuse faniin ka ibiya.
