Should I be worried?

Post by SiennaEarth »

So my mother and sister are going Mogadishu this summer coz my mum has to sort out some houses and my sister is just accompanying her. Should I be worried? What's the possibility of them being bombed? Or randomly shot? And is it safe there for women to travel without a man? I dno I'm more worried about my sister, she recently turned into a religious nuthead I'm scared she'll run off with some Al Shabab guy.

:comeon: Whats there to worry about? You believe every one who goes to Somalia will die? Pray for their safety instead of thinking of the worst things that could happen.

And as for your sister running off with a shabab man, that is ridiculous. If she is religious now, good for her, all I can say is Mashallah!

My friend told me how her brother in law randomly got shot in Mogadishu, plus I see it all the time in documentaries about Mogadishu, people get shot for no reason. God forbid that happens. My sister is very gullible if you tell her I'm a sheikh she'll be pleased and believe it. But luckily I don't think she's into moryan skinny red eyed faraxas.

euphoria my neighbors cousin sister went xamar and was kidnapped and we chipped in 6k to get her back. not to mention she was brutally assaulted and then bundled into a car where she was tired up with a belt by another women. another friend of mine went mogudisho and at the airport the police to his laptop for investigation and he never got it back. another man who is a taxi drive was told at aden cade airport that he had to pay $500 or they would assume he was on his way to join alshabab. its common practice to just bribe and threaten people in somalia. okay now if she is going to sort out some house issues i really she is of the the main tribe in xamar. i mean its only a few months back someone was shot dead for inquiring about his old house. as far as al shabab i wouldnt worry too much. they in not in xamar even if they are they are laying low. this is common practice ALL OVER SOMALIWEYN. not exclusive to xamar only so please the tribalist nutjobs dont attack me.

wallahi dont think alshabab will ask or vibe girls they like. they'll simply send a delegation to the girls father where he will be threatened with violence and thats it. if they like your sister no long ting. inshallah it will work out for your mom and sister.

^^^ My mums not Hawiye, but she knows her way around xamar and has been there previously , so I'm not really worried there as long as she lays low and stays away from popular areas where suicide attacks are likely to take place.

I heard some girl from the UK got kidnapped by Al Shabab and they forced a fake marriage. Basically told her we're married now Khalas, and the father had no say and he was threatened :? Plus my sister wears jilbab, if she lands in the airport with jilbab on will they assume she is going to join Al Shabab??

/\ look if your mom is not of the popular and dominant tribe there i would seriously worry about her inquiring about a house whether its hers or someone else. i mean alarm bells should be ringing in your household wallahi. for your sister its whatever plus its the jilbab that attracts these extremist. but then if she walks around with batii or dirac then it attracts the bantu amison rapist along with their somali slave soldiers. loook my advice is to NOT GO wouldnt send any of my family members to somalia.

^^^ No in Somalia you can wear it, in fact most girls dress like that there, but at the airport the foreign workers and government workers will suspect you.

Don't be worried. My dad just left to go back to Somalia. He was there for 7 months from last year to beginning of this year sorting out properties and renting one out and overseeing a partnership for a new business there. He has been near a couple of the bombings but alhamdullilah he has been able to lay low. He was threatened by Al Shabab back last summer over the phone and he pretty much told them if you're going to kill me, go ahead and kill me, I'm at the hotel right now. Obviously it was an empty threat. The good thing is now he will stay at his property and make his own apartment there. They have security and from what he has told me they have been really good to him. My father also has severly restricted his inner circle as even your own relatives may target you in Somalia. It is a place where Somalis of all stripes think they are tough but when they leave the country they aren't nearly as tough.

And the whole clan dynamics thing is straight BS. My abti is staying at one of the properties my dad owns and he has been walking through Xamar all the way through and he's a reer Waqooyi Darod.

The best thing your relatives can do is lay low and don't go to places where many people congregate... such as Liido Beach on a Friday. If you're going to go there, go during the middle of the week or something. Places of government interest are always targets and Shabab will always try to bomb them.
