What should this brother do? Please advice. SERIOUS!!
Salaamu alaykum dhamaan akhyaarta sharafta leh,
I just wanted to ask something that came up among friends. In my friend circle, we have a guy who is really nice and good at cooking food. One day, he invited close friends like 10 Somalis and cooked for them a great lunch. The guys loved it and planned to organize another event so that the same guy can cook for them again. He did it again, maasha Allah. Now folks are planning a third one just before Ramadan. Alxamdulilaah things were on good terms until one of the guys said jokingly that 'not bigger tribes can do what smaller tribes can do like eating calooleey, cooking and stuff'. The guy continued and said Somalis have status in society and that not everyone from the bigger tribes can do many things that people would see as 'shame'. Instead, people like reer xamar, bantus have no shame and can do what other people don't wanna do. So the brother who was cooking for us got really angry and thought it was him who was addressed indirectly.
The question now is that if that brother was doing for the sake of Allah and helping brothers out so that they can have good time, why would they say such stuff? If he decides not to cook for them, will his act of doing for the sake of Allah become a double standard? He asked me but I don't know what to say and I don't wanna hurt him.
Please share your honesty answer. No 4.5 formula here!

I don't know his tribe but he is really a nice guy. That is all I know. But the guy grew up in the South and has reer xamar accent!

I know right! That is what really shocked me. Some Somalis are still in the medieval period...cajiib!bariis567 wrote:even cooking has to have a qabiil aspect to it...lol

Instead of showing him gratitude, he got an attitude...what an ingrate and wretched soul? If I were him [the friend who cooks], I would definitely disassociate myself from knowing a person like that.

You guys sound a bit shocked about this. I, on the other hand, can think of nothing more natural for us Skinnies to behave. If anything, I am surprised it took the third luncheon for anybody to bring the qabiil issue up for discussion.somali4lyf wrote:I know right! That is what really shocked me. Asc,
Honestly speaking, I do not think he should cook for people who think he is cooking for them because he is from a low society and it was his position to cook. He can go and cook for the masjid or somewhere else that he can be respected. Do not let this arrogants taste his food. Also, Do not shy to tell the truth to others that it was what they think the guy is that cost them the food. It will be a lesson to them. Allah Aclam.

If I try to give my honest advice on this one, I would say " Don't cook for this crook anymore"
Just tell him not only to stop cooking for them but he should say it loud the reason he is not doing it..Let the Landheere people cook their stuff...Laandheere my foot.. They are a bunch of ignorant people...

According to the guy, he is just doing it for the sake of Allah, inviting brothers over, making dua together and having good time...just like alabari but in a friendly way. All the cost is shared. Above all, the brother is a good cook too.DANGIRL wrote:Why is he inviting over guys and cooking for them?
