I think this war will end ugly for the FSA. Who remembers the Georgia- Russia war. The Georgians were told Nato was right behind them and they would be armed to the teeth in order to maintain a fight with Russian powerhouse (military) and we all know how that ended. The Georgians were left humiliated whilst waiting for nato. The west could only offer them political help at the UN, whilst the Russian completely decimated their army. Then the Russians proved to the Georgians that the west were fibbing by taking a huge chunk of Georgian territory called Abkhazia and the Georgians cried wolf.

Now the reason i took the Georgian war as an exmaple is because the fsa are hoping for a Libya or Afghanistan against the soviets. What they will get in reality is Georgia. First of all the americans and nato are known not to risk their fighter jets. I mean an F16 costs $45mill a pop and that's when its straight of the shelf. Eurofighter and Rafale jets are even more expensive since they are new. The turkish learned that syrian air defence systems are highly advanced it spelled no for a fly zone for the west. Air defence systems are not only used for fighting fighter jets. They are used for missiles aswell, in fact its main role is intercepting missiles. So by air the syrian regimes looks 'safe'. Now that russians have warned about enforcing a no fly zone. this means they will go to extreme lengths prove their stance politically and militarily. plus if they lose Syria they'll have no basses in Mediterranean and middle east. So they willing to stick to their words. meaning they themselves might patrol syrian air space. Whats going to stop them anyways?

The Saudis sending the free syrian army weapons wont change anything. The Russian will arm Assad so he aint worried either. What gets me is this. With Russians putting their foot down on the west. This means Assad wont be preoccupied with worry or fear from the west. This frees him to completely concentrate on the fsa. The syrian arab army have proven countless times that they are more than capable in dealing with them and even finishing them off. With Iranian and Hesbollah reinforcement i really dont think the fsa will stand chance. They are extremely disorganized and not trained most of them. they have more volunteers then skilled fighters. Plus their generals are not even in syria. This means their battle plans are not in line with whats happening on the ground(syria). I think after the death toll reaches a certain number, the Syrian sunnis will give up. That's when the blame game will begin.

I just wish the gulf arabs and egypt would stop hyping the fsa because they wont be their to wipe their tears once shit gets real and they lose. The west and Russia will not fight over Syria i believe. Things are good between them and this conflict for them is just a sign of political will and power. These guys agree on more issues then they disagree. plus no one can stomach a war in the west or Russia because things have never been better. so in the end the loser are the syrian women and children
