Aghanistan is yet again the graveyard of empires..
but seriously the US messed up their whole strategy was wrong.

Now if they leave karzai will no longer be mayor of Kabul, the northern alliance is still in a position of millitary superiority over the taliban/pushtoon.
so we are talking about a pushtoon dominated souther afghanistan and a northern alliance dominated northern afghanistan that controls kabul.

so 2 countries really.

If the US wanted to defeat the taliban they should have left years ago,
people have estimated that taliban will lose at least 2/3rd of its manpower when nato leaves because whats driving the war was Nato presence.
Without massive pakistani aid (pakistan is broke now) there can never be a recapture of kabul or any advances in the north,
so they will have to negotiate with the northerners too the tadjiks and the uzbeks mainly.
