I am sure New York City has similar numbers. Its not about the size of the city but where Somalis migrate to. The only place with any real communities are Edmonton and Ottawa with around 20,000 each and Toronto with 150,000. Anywhere else has very small Somali communities who are probably all related. I am aware of a 100 member Somali close family in Winnipeg

That's Interesting but you are a bit flawed when it comes to the Dakota's, Oregon & Texas...Oregon has about 8K, Texas has about 15K & The Dakota's have a growing Somali population of about 8-10K combined...Somali's from California & deep south are migrating to the Dakotas and Minnesota since the economic stitution in those regions are deteriorating especially in California with over 20% unemployment in the majority of its' municipalities including greater Los Angeles.So in an essence both nations are neck & neck.

Grand-forks is in North Dakota which also has much more economic output then South Dakota. There are entry level fast-food jobs that pay $30,000 annually which is twice the national average. Going back to the discrpencey over Texas there are 3 Metropolitan Statistical Areas of well over 5 million each, Dallas-Forthworth, Houston-Baytown & Austin-San Antonio region.Which translates to about 5K each. Which isn't that much in reality. Don't forget somalis go where their is economic opportunity & Texas is doing very well in that department it's also the 2nd most populous State.In closing the 15K for Texas is actually a modest estimate especially when ND has over 6K for a population of 600K State Wide total.
