A new home-grown British, Somali channel, Star TV Launched

Star TV will feature a wide variety of shows both in Somali and English. The programmes are family oriented but also include content specifically geared towards the new generation of youth, particularly those living in the diaspora as well as in the East African continent. Some shows include. Talk the Talk, a youth show focusing on everyday issues affecting the youth in the UK, Live with Dawn, a current affairs programme, Baadisooc, a show that gives insights into Somali culture and many more. With offices and studios in Europe and East Africa than any other “Star TV” will be able to cater for the needs of its audiences more effectively.

During the launching ceremony “Star TV” CEO Mohamed Hassan gave an introductory presentation and former MP for Brent South and Minister for Young Citizens and Youth Engagement in the Cabinet Office, Dawn Butler among other notable speakers at the function.

Lastly, there was a short introduction to one of the programs, as well as with words from presenters and members of staff on what viewers can expect from “Star TV”.

Many people including those in the media fraternity think the new TV channel will revolutionize the Somali media scene.

hmmm, where did I hear this before? oh now I remember, I hear this sort of nac-nac just about every time Somali owned new tv channel is about to be launched. Universal, Somalichannel, Royal tv and myriads of other so called Somali media power houses have each promised the public pretty much the sky in terms of quality programs. As anyone who ever had the misfortune of watching these channels would attest to, the reality is anything but . These soi-disant state of the art tv channels are nothing but shamelessly orchestrated schemes to make few quick bucks and/or propogate the ancient Somali tradition of clan based hatred, that is all.

i have been at their office in wembley (just on the north circular road) for djibouti opposition reason.
Mohamed the ceo is a young gentleman who used to work with HCT or htc (i don't know but it is the hargeisa tv channel malarkey).

The Tv is a miriad of investors but the ceo is mohamed ( an issaq guy).
I think he migth be the buloxaar people.
