Colombian FARC militant group has reportedly taken a US soldier hostage, and the militants are now offering his release as a “gesture” towards peace with the Colombian government. The rebels published a statement on their website, identifying their hostage as Kevin Scott Sutay. The guerrillas pointed out that despite the fact that they have the "right" to hold their captive "as a prisoner of war”, they’ve “taken the political decision to release him" as a goodwill gesture.

FARC ain't messing about.
