its called reactive armour.
its in its 4rth generation now.
the syrian have kontact-5 which is 3rd generation and easily handles rpg-7.
but may not handle rpg-29 dual warheads.
the rebels do not have dual warheads though.

and thats only for head on or side shots.
if you are in an upper floor of an apartment block and you shoot down into the roof of even an M1-abrams or a Merkava-3
or a challenger -2 you will kill it.

Who cares if it can handle rpg-7's or not? The mujahideen have acquired some anti-tank missiles and are in the process of acquiring even more.
