First time I'm proud of the Somali Parliament
In the US, only the executive branch (President and cabinet) make treaties but the US Congress (Senate) has to ratify it by 2/3 or it is rejected
The Somali Interior Minister went to Turkey and got into a treaty with Somaliland where Somalia's office for its airspace would be controlled from Hargeisa.
NOTHING wrong with compromise and trying to be pragmatic but the executive branch was arrogant not consulting with anyone and thinking because they want to they can sign a treaty.
So what happened? Well Parliament brought the executive branch before them and rejected the unilateral decision.
Now the Minister of Information was brought before Parliament to announce the treaty null and void.
Somalia and Somaliland discussion isn't between the President of Somaliland and President of Somalia. It is also incoudes the people of Somalia through their representatives.

isolated?
not yet mate.
this means that the spotlight will be on the issue and it cannot be swept under the carpet like the UN wants.
the Somaliland side has shown itself to be reasonable, but having strong interests.

Re: First time I'm proud of the Somali Parliament
well of all the pending and pressing issue the somali parliament can exert influence and power on fullfiling, they targeted a fair treaty
that was already a done deal, if they can tackle something why could not they tackle corruption and all the things detrimental
to the recovery . Bad move I say
your phrase first time I am proud of Somali parliament reminds me of Michelle Obama's I am proud of my country for the first time. if you know what i mean
This sets the precedence that any delegation sent to talk to somaliland from the federal government cant be taken serious. get your shit together SFG
lets just hope unwanted minor setbacks like these are avoided next time. future looks bright.
Oxymoron= you know Somalilands Army are just stones throw away from Garowe , I would behave if i were you considering the circumstances

Republican
It is good you are out of the hibernation. it shows you are recovering from the pain of Huuraale defeat in Kismayo.
I heard he has been beheaded in Barawe by Godane , warkaas maxaa ka jira?

The President/PM have veto. They are not going to allow a bunch of qabiilists hijack the gains that have been made between Somalia-Somaliland.
Why is this excellent news?HutuKing01 wrote:The Talks were expected to fail.
