Scholarships to Puntland from Sudan cheated by the SFG

Post by MJ360 »

The good-intentioned Dr. Maryan Qassim, Somali Minister for Social Affairs Development, wrote a letter to Sudan dated 5 July 2013, requesting the Sudanese government to recognize Puntland educational certificates because unlike the south, "Puntland has a single educational curriculum, a single examination, and an educational policy".

Despite the Minister [Maryan Qassim] plea on behalf of Puntland in receiving its share of scholarships, she was later cheated by a team organized by Somalia Interior Minister Abdikarim Hussein Guled and and led by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Mohamed Nur Ga’al, two man who despise Puntland to the core.

Good. The scholarships will be going to students from regions that acknowledge and respect the authority of the federal government. The fed govt may not be perfect but you don't go trying to undermine it.

Puntland demanded that the EU grant them their own chair in a conference in September to represent themselves. What is the use of the federal government then?

I hope many more of these actions from Muqdisho occur until Puntland (and anyone else who tries to undermine the fed. government) learns to play its role as a state government.

If you want to act like your own country -- fine. Don't come crying when the federal government treats you like one.

First of all learn to distinguish between those in power and the public. It is not the first time Mogadishu politicians have intervened to prevent Puntland students from access to scholarships, the same scholarships mind you, being handed to undeserving students in the black-market by SFG officials but only after the right amount of bribe has been paid as published in the Seattle Times.

If you wanna score political points against Faroole you should know better then to advocate on doing it on the backs of already struggling students who have no or little choices.
