Social construct around sleep

Post by hydrogen »

When it's 5am in the morning and you don't feel tired at all (scenario, it's 7 for me now) and you have work at 7am, do you feel like you need some form of sleep even though you're not tired? You could always stay awake for the hour and get some work done and be not tired, but there's a notion that we have to have some sleep and people get insomnia because sleep becomes something of a necessity.

Since the next day is Eid and I'm not tired, I might aswell stay awake and not sleep this night so I could wake up early the day of eid. Earlier I tried to go to sleep and thought to myself, why do I even need to sleep? (I tried to force myself to sleep but it didn't work) so now I'm staying awake till Eid.

Sleep hits you when you don't want it. It's a raging battle that has capped our lives in this modern era. The outbreak of teenagehood with social networking is ruining our nights i'm telling you. I need a bedtime but i will never stick to it.

Yes, most of the time I think to myself, this earthly life would be soooo good if there was no such thing as sleep! I think it's that more time we want on this world
