former thugs
There was a time I couldn't go to an event without seeing the local thugs acting up, fighting, stealing, gang banging but for the last two years some of them disappeared completely, I assumed they were locked up or moved out to move weight but I was proving wrong, they become religious and were studying the deen cus I ran into em last night.

The beauty of Islam; how it transforms one from one state to another.

They're generally shorter than Somalis.Advo wrote:I know many oromo muslim families, besides language. ..u cannot tell the difference between us.

Re: former thugs
Most of them are not "transformed". They are Muslim in name only. Prisons are the recruitment centre for them, they simply partake in all the shit they used to do, but now wear a koofi.

Re: former thugs
Former thugs round mine become street preachers and they collect donations and sell tree tooth brushes, catars and koofi shiekhs. They dont like disagreements and they have names like abu so and so. They start off by tellin you what they used to do and how they changed their life.

Re: former thugs
I knew this one brother who was mashaAllah a good guy diin wise
His dad was a sheykh and you could tell that he came from a religious background by his dress, his knowledge, mannerism, etc. He was an active member of the Muslim association in high school and helped organized jumca, iftar events, lectures, you name it. After we graduated, inanki wu isku dhufday
He'd party all the time, get white boy wasted even during Ramadan, saladi wu ka tagay, got a gf that he would smash in the parking lot at school, etc. I don't know if he simmered down yet but I hope he did.
Another guy that I went to school with growing up was such a bakhti. He was really smart, especially in math and science, but he'd waste his time on getting blazed and petty crimes (theft, loitering, etc). A few years ago I ran into him at the bus station and wa inanki surwaalki gaabay oo dhulka eegaya. After exchanging salaams, he went on to narrate a couple hadiths for me
And told me how he use to smoke so much that it adversely effected his performance in math, as well as diin-wise and family relations. Hadda wu ka si daray oo xataa haddu ku arko, he'll detour/hide
It's just crazy how people can change subxanaAllah!
