I'm just curious - what are your sleep habits like?
I can never seem to get consistent, restful sleep. Since childhood, I've been struggling with something like insomnia. I now sleep once about every two days - I might sleep and hour one day and then 6-10 hours the next. On those days where I can't sleep, I'd just lay awake in my bed, frustrated that I can't sleep. Don't know why this is as I don't consume caffeine, take part in vigorous activity at night, and I don't smoke.
So I'd like to know how do normal people deal with sleep?

Go seek some help, it seems to be something internal going on. If you sought help what did the doc say?

I haven't seen a doctor. They usually brush off concerns of the patient, so I dislike going (plus I hate waiting). It's frustrating but I guess I can't keep putting it off.

Yeah I'm definitely encouraging you to do so. Have you tried sleeping pills?

Alxamdulillah, I always fall asleep easily. When am busy and pulling all nighters a 1- 2 hours sleep will do. On normal nights 6-8 hours.

I've got used to my lack of sleep.. I can survive on an average of 3 hours of sleep a night..
Stay away from pills there's safer ways.. At the end they stop working anyway..
A few months go I slept for 6 hours straight it felt beyond amazing.. Have been trying to recreate that day ever since with no luck..

When I'm ready, I go into deep sleep within several minutes. For your problem, I would suggest camping a few/several days in nature, as it helps realign your sleep pattern.

Jaceel aa ku haayo. You're thinking about someone else and therefore your mind is lost in curiosity and bewilderment. Either settle the issue or forever stay awake.

I read somewhere that sleep issues are very particular to women. Best things is to sleep in complete darkness, dim the lights in your place hours before you actually go to sleep, watch what you eat before you sleep. Have you ever tried getting up every ten mins then laying backdown untill you fall asleep?

I use to be able to sleep 12hrs straight before. Now-a-days, I'm lucky if I get 8hrs

For instance, I went to bed sleep at 2am last night and was wide awake by 9:20 this morning and not a bit tired. Come Monday though, I'll snooze for a good 20 minutes before getting out of bed

The say drinking something warm ie. milk+honey, Shah, water, puts the body at ease. If that doesn't work, I'd suggest that you sign yourself up for a gym membership. A good hour of sweat, will have you knocked out when you get home.

loool I'm pretty apathetic when it comes to love. The most I feel towards people is a sisterly or motherly love. The only thing of this world that I love are good books, tea, and action flicks. You should have seen me in the theatres for Pacific Rim. I couldn't breath, the fight scenes were so amazing. I might have even shed a few tears of joy.

Nah, too lazy. But after two hours of trying to sleep, I get mighty hungry. Some nights I get up to eat, and on others I don't. Can't sleep on an empty stomach.
@ Rabshoole
I've tried everything everyone suggested except exercising. I've finally accepted I need to exercise since trying to gain fat is futile, might as well gain some muscle mass and my weight might go up. Plus, I can barely move without getting exhausted, I'm pretty out of shape.

You're showing the obvious symptoms of a hidden love fantasy you're going through. There's someone in real life that you've probably had much or little contact with and you're nervous about the next stage. Masquerading it all with tea and 'sciencey' action films (girls into this?) won't cut it for me. Like i said hun, the remedy of this problem is within you. Question your heart and you will see your answer.
