Somali President first year; artificial bubble of optimism

Post by MJ360 »

"Rarely has it been so important to bear in mind the old maxim: Mogadishu is not Somalia."

Outside the city, the weak central government has little influence...

The northeast Puntland region cut ties with central government in a furious row earlier this month...

UN Monitoring Group reports last month estimated the Shebab are still strong, and remain the "principal threat to peace and security to Somalia".

Multiple armies fight for control of southern Somalia, including rival warlords, Islamist extremists and a rag-tag national army backed by the 17,700-strong African Union force.

Over a million Somalis are refugees in surrounding nations and another million are displaced inside the country, often in terrible conditions, with the UN warning of "pervasive" sexual violence.

Compounding the problem is an almost impossible environment for aid workers.

"The failure of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud's administration to consolidate power beyond Mogadishu and the general lawlessness in many parts of country, remain stark reminders of the huge challenges to lasting peace in Somalia,"

"The gains are fragile, however, and the magnitude of the crisis remains enormous," United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator Philippe Lazzarini said, adding millions of Somalis are still dependent on aid.

It has been a year since President Hassan’s selection and the President is still smiling – and the topic is still Kismaayo.

You are right.

1) Xassan Sheikh Ousted Somalia gov't in 1990 and started the civil war in Somalia
2) Xassan Sheikh Started Alshabaab in 1996
3) Xassan sheikh brought the Ethiopians to muqidisho ti kill people 2006
4) Xassan Sheikh Created the Fake and confusing Constitution 2011
5) Xassan Sheikh brought the Kenyans to Kismaayo and started collecting elders to select a president without consulting the gov't 2013
6) Xassan Sheikh started the Kablalax Union against the gov't 2013.

Everything is about Xassan Sheikh and Xassan sheikh's fault. Keep whirning and dreaming. Xassan Sheikh Is the only reason some people are starting to grow balls because he is such miskiin.

It's amazing that President Hassan Sheikh hasn't solved all of Somalia's problems in the year he's had.

Tell us at least one achievement he has made in his one term yr?

He has nothing.
1.Insecurity has risen since he took office.rape cases are on the rise while Shabaab have increased their attacks on govt institutions and others.
2.Embezzling of govt resources is at its record high.
3.Regional instability has been a problem created by his admin through neglegence he has appointed govonor and tried to plant in administrators without the will of the locals.
4.He has presented a bad image of Somalia to the International communty due lack of adhering to international protocals. He blaming Kenya, then Ethiopia is something his inexperienced cabinet were taking a hobbie.

:russ: im wondering if his wife ever said yee tahay kismayo!

He has achieved the local legitimacy and forieng recognition, by next year he will implement the legitimacy and build the army.

You have to understand somalia was a place of laaala lands and ONGs who even got rid of a somali pm like farmaajo and any president would have confronted the same problems.
