for us koonfurian people this Word "qaldaan" is a harmless nick name... There's nothing malicious behind it , but maybe waqooyilanders took this Word as offensive cuz of many years of waqooyilanders feeling of many years that we Southerns politically oppressed Them ... Peace to you qaldaanoos :sland:  Somaliland waa duushay iga wallee billee  hayyaay gaw naw jaw..

Qaldaan is a harmless word. I don't take the qaldaan thing serious for the simple reason that we and Bantus (south Somalis) do not speak the same language. Why should I care if nacnac is an offensive word in Swahili and they began calling me nacnac? For me nacnac is candy and its a sweet thing. Qaldaan is none-existent word and what they say is none existent to me. In other words they qaldaan call is falling on deaf ears.

Dadka isku luqada tihin ba lagu dhaha waxas wad ku khaldan tahaye bal sax ninyahow lakin nin kale luqadisa lagu ma qabsado dee.

I know their "Qaldaan" is a poor imitation of the word KHALAD but since they are Bantu, their tongue has not yet evolved to grasp Semitic words such as Khalad. I just feel sorry for the Quran. How do they read it?

Jamal

I know. I used to hate that word too. But if u look at it-its harmless. Its a word used to high 'Qalaad'. The Arabic word to say 'Wrong'. It is used on ISaaq because the unpolished south Konfur could not understand the dialect of the great Isaaq, therefore, they just dismissed them as 'Qaldaan'. Its a gentle word to hide or describe something worst. :stylin: Somali a general qabil is a gentle language. They don't use harsh words to describe people they are denigrating. For instance, they don't use the word Qanis often--the prefer --- "Qof Xuun'! LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Or worst "Lagaa Roone" Which is brilliant and delicate if u ask me. I am not sure whether to assign this Cilbaahniimo to Somalis, to Somali language or just a pure luck fluke. (given Somalis are general very rude, and self absorbed people. One has the image of them, I mean the most savage of them, walking around with Cadeey in their mouth, Qaaaqiing and Tuuffing Saliva and throwing harsh judgment words everywhere on things or people who r different from them)

Like Dhi.lo, they wont say that str8 up ---they will say--Waareegto----loooool which is sweet and delicate also. :stylin: Like a Selfish Person, they will say-- Caaloshaa laa iyaartey. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL I don't know if they lack an advanced language or maybe it is proof that Somalis and the Somali language is New. Its not ancient people or civilization.

I think the word your looking for is CLANISH....I don't believe in restricting others in free expression even if it goes against my views & opinions...The real world simply won't bend to your personal needs. Why should it on the web?? Its better to grow a pair & deal with other people's opposing ideals & expressions....

Wanlaweyn symbolizes the deceiving nature of the reer Koonfur. When that little tuulo generated more votes than entire Maroodi Jeex region made us realize what we were dealing with. Hence our people becoming anti union, at that time.

On the contrary the word qaldaan is ambiguous. How can we be qaldaan when our dialect is standard Somali?

Poems, the vast majority of Somali songs etc. are all written down and chanted/sung in this particular dialect.
