"Mogadihu (RBC) The federal government of Somalia has issued new orders to the airline companies operating in Somalia after a meeting between the minister of information and the airline agents.
According to a statement from the office of the minister for information, posts and transportation Abdullahi Elmoge Hersi, the ministry has ordered the airline companies to bring their licenses to the ministry within a week and follow the rules of the government towards the aviation matters.
After meeting the owners and directors of all airline companies operating in Somalia, whether it is an international airline or local airline company, the ministry has given seven days deadline to bring the companies their licenses and their crew to the ministry for checking, the statement said.
The ministry’s statement also said all the airline companies were warned to overload their flights especially the local flight operators as they were also ordered to keep flight schedules.
Meanwhile the minister has thanked the owners if the airline companies for their utmost efforts to bring the airline services into the war-torn Somalia where the world has not been ready to do so in the past two decades of the lawlessness.
The federal government in Somalia has recently re-taken the authority of its aviation from UN caretaker body based in Kenya which has been administering the country’s airspace for more than 17 years.
