It is permissible to pay her meher if she takes you to court for alimony ? I think not because the only obligation is to her meher not a dime more unless she has your kids.

Sister, I have a Doctorate in Duuniya but struggle with the hereafter. My question here is that can she have it both ways. Is it right she seek both ? If so, why did she accept a meher ?

I am one step ahead. Even the financial poison pill.

Avoid marrying in the West to prevent all future losses in case things go awry, I suggest marrying an African bride to ease financial burden.

PS: Islam doesn't require alimony persay, only reimbursement of the original meher amount in the nikaax and of course child support.
