Re: Twist
You lot could have at least voted for Labour. Now Abbott and his right-wingness will take power.
Either way, Australia seems to be shifting to the right. There is so much hate for boat people and as usual Rupert Murdoch bought the election and knows who will win. God I hate that guy. But seriously, Abbott looks like a terminator robot sent from the future to kill refugees. Why can't the Greens ever win?

Re: Twist
Insom, blame the Labor and their infighting, plus their pretty relaxed policy towards boat people. Just like the Coalition government before Kevin07, they could have accepted the legit refugees through the UNHCR & took a tough stand towards illegal immigrants & the outcome would have been different today.
It's mainly their internal wars for the top job, their open-doors-for-illegal-immigrants policy & the carbon tax that got them where they're now.

Minority governments are political suicide. I am hoping Liberals will win with a hung parliament.Twist wrote:Insom, blame the Labor and their infighting, plus their pretty relaxed policy towards boat people. Insomniac, I concur with much of what you said. Not bad analysis for someone who still watches Shaun The Sheep.

Re: Twist
Yeah, a minority government will be a mess just like the last time with the Labor.
And with all this talk about the election, you two bloody made me watch the election coverage on the net, which I was resisting all day.

@Samaale
Leave Shaun out of this mate. Anyway, it will be a win for the terminator, hands down.
@Twist
Sxb, does Rupert Murdoch pay you?
Boat people aren't as big of a problem as it made out to be by the disgusting right wing media and Lynn Crosbie, who just want to have a whinge at someone's expense. Open door kulaha. You sound like the DailyMail readers here sxb. Labour shot themselves in the foot with all their in-fighting but their economic policies have been spot on. They have presided over one of the best economic growth in decades while the rest of the world is still suffering from the financial meltdown. Why the hate?

ALP: 39
Coalition: 71
Green: 0
Other: 1
Looks like a landslide with only 40% votes counted.

Re: Twist
Insom, if I were to give my vote to anyone it would be Labor & Rudd, no doubt about that.
The thing is, mate, I also came here as a refugee so there is no way I can have anything against someone like myself to come here for a better life, whether they escaped persecution or just being economic refugees. But the problem is that a lot of Aussies can easily be moved & misinformed in such issues & that's what makes racists raving. Australia, whether under the Labor or the Liberals, always used to take refugees in but this particular boat issue became a thorn for the Labor, hence where I was coming from.
