White Life and the Media
I don't watch the Corporate News Network (CNN), but I have caught glimpses of the coverage on the Syrian crisis. I'm so f-king livid!!
Why do they continue to disrespect the dead in such a way that questions their mere agency?! Think about it. When was the last time you saw a WHITE person's dead body being flung and mutilated on national television?
Columbine shooting is an example. Students who were severally injured or deceased were carried out in white body bags. White people have names. White people have identity. They were going places. Filled with so much promise. They have stories.
'# of dead in Syria'
Where are their stories? Were they not living with a meaningful life? How are their loved ones affected by their loss? No one cares! Why?!
One thing I've learned recently is to not equate white life to any non-white person's life in America. Sad reality.

It always makes me laugh. It is a two way street. The white western nations defend themselves and are not divided when the Arabs are happily killing each other and parading their bodies around the streets.

Very true. Just look at how the bombings of various countries (all bombed by America) are reported. Or at how missing children of different races are reported. Or even how mass murderers are portrayed in the media - white murderers are often "misunderstood" or "mentally ill" and depicted as basically good people whose mental illness or emotional stress has led them to do this whereas black or latino murderers are portrayed as evil, thug criminals who deserve to die.SavySallySupersedes wrote:I don't watch the Corporate News Network (CNN), but I have caught glimpses of the coverage on the Syrian crisis. I don't bother watching CNN. I still to Democracy Now and sometimes Al Jazeera although it is often subtly slanted in America's favour.

Re: White Life and the Media
In whose mind? To Western media and the general Western population, they are Arabs. In reality, race is a social construct. There is no "white" or "black" gene that is exclusive to one race and basically any trait in one race can be found in any other, without the individual possessing that trait being mixed. So perception is entirely important when it comes to "race" and "racism". Because if people stuck to what is real, then they would not define one another by race.hydrogen wrote:Syrians are white though

Re: White Life and the Media
Please do tell, where was "whitey" mentioned? And who blamed anyone for the faults of Arabs. The topic is simply about the fact that corpses of what the West sees as being "non-whites" are being shown when they never do this with white corpses. Whatever your sensitivities are about the term "whitey" are, they are irrelevant in this thread. Start your own thread bemoaning how people blame your dear friend "whitey" (is that an individual?) rather than "contributing" irrelevant and useless posts here.Spec2014 wrote:Lets blame "Whiety" for the faults of Arabs??? Who said anything about "hate" or "all whites"? FYI - no one did.Jax wrote:Some whites are good like Chechnya lets not hate all whites.
Re: White Life and the Media
Condescension isn't classy...The OP maked the assertion that the western media<- ->(White Media) is showing bodies of so called ( Non-Whites). When technically Syrians are classified as Caucasian.... What you & her fail to understand is that many of those images are coming from affiliates like Al Jazeera!! Not to mention that these photos are from abroad! I don't see the bodies of minorities shown in the United States so there fore it must be a protocol that is subject to the local laws of the United States instead of being racially motivated or out of malice!! Everything isn't always raced related as many on this site seem to allude!CushiticReflections wrote:Please do tell, where was "whitey" mentioned? And who blamed anyone for the faults of Arabs. I don't think you can compare victims of war w/ people who are missing/murdered/part of mass shootings. Victims of war are always considered collateral damage while the latter events are usually seen as "tragedies".

12 years since 9/11 happened. I can't imagine how devastating it would be to not have your loved one come home whether an American, Syrian or Iraqi. I pray Allah punishes all tyrants who seek to destroy lives here and abroad. I can't imagine our 9/11 being someone else's 24/7 despite the reality.
Dead Iraqi, Afghan or Pakistani children are not collateral damage. The strategies U.S. media utilizes reinforce images of extreme othering. It's inaccurate, damaging and continually solidifies that the preservation of white life is of utmost importance.
Are we twins? Lol. I watch Democracy Now too!
