The new show Black List with James Spader is right up my alley: cerebral, spy/cia, Spader. Can't wait.

Just another cop show. That is all.

You probably would've liked The Border, a Canadian show about national security. And CBC's got a new cross-border cop show coming out. Forget the name, but looks mildly interesting. Crossing Lines! Yes, that's the title.

I hate cop shows, so if it turns out to be that, then I'm done with it. But, if it is along the lines of "Tinker, Taylor, Soldier, Spy" or "The Good Shephard" (Great movie, I need to rewatch it), or even a long the lines of the Bourne series, or at the very least "Salt", then I will enjoy it.

Idris Elba

He plays the titular character of Luther, a BBC psychological drama.

John Luther is a detective who solve cases involves homicide, usually involving the most heinous crimes. What's fascinating is how multifaceted the characters are, including the murderers, but no character is as complex as Luther is. While he plays the "good guy", his depth of understanding of how a depraved (but often very intelligent) murderer's mind works hints at a darker nature which we are shown glimpses of. Even those close to him grow frustrated or distance themselves from him due to their uncertainty of his nature. Luther and the show would not have as much subtle complexity without the talents of Idris Elba. He was also in The Wire and his performance in that show has drawn praise from most critics and viewers. It goes without saying that I'm a fan of his work. And no, I don't work for BBC.

This is not the first time you mentioned Idris Elba, me thinks you like him more than as a good actor jk. You know on Netflix and IMDB Luther doesn't get good reviews so I never have it a chance. I also have a bias against him, and I don't know why lol

As much as I love Netflix, most people who use it aren't looking for great psychological thrillers but rather your typical bland rom-com or blockbuster film. I'm not sure about IMDB but Luther has received negative reviews on it, then it isn't worth an iota of respect. lol

I do mention it a lot because I can't think of any other non-animated show that I've enjoyed this much. It's that good.

I respect enthusiasm, and I will reluctantly overcome my natural aversion of going against the grain and give it a chance

I wouldn't say it's hype. I chose to watch it without knowing a single thing about it. But then again, I don't live in the UK and therefore don't have to be subjected to trailers that spoil the show.

I'll like any movie with the following Actors:

Russel Crowe, one of my top favorites since Gladiator
Johnny Depp, very eccentric, even his mild roles have a bit of his wildness in it.
Leonardo Di Caprio, watched him grow up, and I'm still amazed by his transformation.
Matt Damon, dude is the man for action films.
Christian Bale, so many great movies, a few not so good.
Tom Cruise, Use to really like, then not so much, than Jack Reacher came.
Hugh Jackman, just listening to him makes the movie that much better.
Edward Norton, it all started with Fight Club

Then I can't forget my black actors
Morgan Freeman, Legend
Denzel Washington, Ha haaa ma maan
Samuel Jackson, why you always so loud
Forest Whitaker, Butler wasn't so good, but not because of you
Terrance Howard, stop playing the abusive black boyfriend/husband, your better than that
Cuba Gooding Jr, what a cool name

Most of these guys, if they are in the movie, it's automatic ok movie, if not really good.
