It's annoying when they add silly English words while they're talking. You'd think grown ass men who grew up in the country would be able to speak proper somali.

Waxay rabaan ha ku hadlaane, haday baadhitaankii shidaalka si fiican u maamuli lahaayeen maanta guul baa la jogilaa.
The government have grossly mismanaged exploratory mission and they failed to provide security for the company. Shacab markooda horeba reer miyi ah iyo shirkadii ayay dawladu isaga dhex baxday oo isku sii daysay. waxay ahayd in dawladu si cadaalada wax u maamusho shacabkana wacyi galin ku filan siiso inta aanay shaqaduba bilaabmin. Unfortunately that did not happen and Somaliland loses big time

Silly African. Why pray for a foreign company to exploit your resources and pollute the land, while corrupt politicians pocket the remaining dividends?
You should be happy that the "oil company" left. What kind of oil company flees at the first sign of danger and is too cheap to hire mercenaries for protection. Look at how many workers are killed and kidnapped in other more dangerous parts of the world like the Niger delta. If there was oil worth exploiting and the company was bigger like Shell or Aramco, they wouldn't have ran.

There is no security issues in Somaliland, but for a foreigner it takes small skirmish for thoughts of Somalia's two decade of war creeping into their mind. This is where the government should have stepped in and ensure their safety so they can continue their exploration without fear. The government failed on that front. But the good news is, it was not Genel who quit, it was sub contractors, Genel is here to stay. Issues has been sorted and the exploration shall continue w/new team of sub-contractors. Just little glitch. God willing.

Can you post a source about the the sub contractors part
of your statement.
I pray it will be a blessing Inshallah!
I just hope when the stakes are higher and there is more wealth
in SL, we don't fight over it, we have too many enemies for us
to turn on each other.
If it doesn't
materialize, I think God is protecting us from something.

Believe me, the exploration will not resume at least in the coming three years and that is simply our fault. The government has failed to do its job to provide security for the foreign workers. The locals were terrorising the workers, constantly threatening them and asking impossible demands that were not in the agreement they had with the government. For example, every few Miles there was a new clan asking all jobs should go to their clan or otherwise the company would be denied access to their land. No one can change staff including the trained staff in every few miles, that is simply impossible. Any way, reer bari are reer bari, their reer miyinimo and their stupidity has no limits. Horumarkii SL way hor istaageen iyaguna lugtay iska toogteen. The exploration activity gave their towns and villages a boom and economic growth they have never seen before but that is going to come to an abrupt end soon, thanks to their stupidity.

This administration is a succesful government. Most people voted for Kulmiye in 2010 General Election and in November 2012 Local Election.
I can bet you Kulmoiye will win a lanslide victory in the next presidention election. You can tell that from Silanyo's confidence by travelling to other regions of SL, from Awdal to Berbera to Burco... and in Sool and Sangaag next year.
As president Silanyo has said' shirkada shidalku 'hakad' ayay gashay waana la xalin doonaa

Lol why are people crying here. It was bound to happen when there is corruption, trying to marginalize locals, not to forget some of the shady
deals wasn't presented to the parliament.

Abdikarim,
I assume you have already seen the press conference in London by FM and Mining ministers. I'm taking them on their word. They said the company complained of security challenges and said that sub contractors quit and won't be returning but no word from Genel itself as of yet. We wait and see.
Prestige,
It seems Kulmiye has been building sand casstles in the sky and it's all coming down on their arse. Over 400 passengers are stranded in Hargeisa Airport which they said was open for the world and they manage to chase out the only proper airline that was willing to take their BS. And we expect these people to take on more complicated issues like oil explorations and International recognition. Just too many idoor crooks walking around for our liking.

Siciid85 That is true, they fucked up major time. Since I heard arguments arising in regards to the oil exploration day one I knew it was a serious matter that
could result in the company suspending its activities, while the simpletons here brushed it off as minor and boasted they will crush the "locals" Lol. It just shows
how some of the people here are disconnected from the reality back home.
