preached in the Church. I am almost done with this fascinating book written by Reza Aslan. It is fascinating. It questions every story, gospel and factoid being preached by modern Church. The book looks at Jesus the man of Nazareth not the fictional Christ who was concocted by Paul, Luke, Mark. The Fictional Christ is a meek, peace loving, Gandhi like character while Reza says that the Jesus the Nazarean was a devoted Jew, a zealot, an independence fighter, barely literate, had a wife, brothers etc.

The first quote is insightful:

The author was a victim of a vicious online campaign by rightwing Christians who keep associate his Muslim faith with his book and imply he is antiChrist. The book topped the New York best seller list. I find it refreshing that Reza's book gets under the skin of those same Quran burning loonies.

This is about as close as to a "Satanic Verses" to Christiandom.

Yet I do applaud the Christians for not going ape in the streets unlike the Muslims.

My take on the book so far is that it is quite interesting. The Jesus of Nazareth seems more genuine and believable than the lamb carrying, turn your other cheek Jesus Christ.

Reza writes about Jesus the man and his environment. His assessments are there was no virgin birth and that he was executed.

Wow, I know understand why the rightwing hate Reza. He goes against Christian dogma. The Jesus he writes about is a mere mortal with human qualities not a Messiah.

Still no riots, demonstrations or Christians calling for his head.

Muslims need to take note.

Christians are far more civilized than muslims.
That is why u dont see Christians taking this insult as excuse for vandalism and other barbaric crimes.
Besides why are the muslims silent though? This man Reza calls Jesus a revolutionairy warrior, denies his miracle birth, denies him to be messiah.
