off all times of any kind of sport event , France 98 was unforeseen and no world cup ever since topped its excellence , the only world cup in which
both tactics and team effort on one hand and individual playing skills on the other was shown greatly . I think will never get to see a great world cup like this .
Can we say this was the Greatest TOURNAMENT .

A lot of players were big names in that tournament and many of them made history. Zidane, Rivaldo, Ronaldo, Kluivert, Bierhoff, Suker, Klinsman, Batistuta, Owen etc just to show the few.
South Africa qualifying for the first time, Beckham with the legendary red card and then losing against Argentina in the trademark penalty shootout, Romania's surprised win against England, Croatia beating the odds and winning the Bronze (third place) and France's gracious effort to win in the final against the historically dominant Brazil in a shocking 3-0 whitewash.
What a world cup that was. It was at the pinnacle of the football industry. When money wasn't the only criterion in making history.
Nowadays we got shitty international tournaments with vuvuzelas everywhere, national teams in a mess and England (my team) more disappointing than ever.

My favourite player in that tournament was Youri Djorkaeff. What a player he was.
