What's wrong with us? Kenya vs. Somalia
Our main excuse is "there was no Somalia before independence". When you think about it that is a retarded statement. Was there a Kenya? A Tanzania? A Uganda? Borders were drawn for all countries, communities were separated and combined with others. Somalia is not a unique case. But why aan anaga wax isku diidsan nahay?
Every tweet or update of prayer and hope and anguish that my Kenyan friends share is adding to the sadness I feel when I compare them to my Somali people. I feel for the people who've lost someone and for the ones who still don't know the fate of their families. 68 people are now reported dead lakin I can't help but think of how many 68 Somalis have died at the hands of Al Shabab, of warlods, of governments, at the hands of fellow Somalis. We are so used to death we don't even bat an eyelid when we hear about attacks in Somalia. What's happening in Kenya now and the effect it's having just highlights, piercingly, the contrast so overwhelmingly at odds with the normalcy of death and violence in my old home.
This is depressing in so many ways.

It's just wrong. We've become so accustomed to death in Somalia. So much death for so long that the the dead have just become statistics. I think I even felt more empathetic towards the atrocities in Nairobi as opposed to the average bombing in Somalia

I love the Kenyan people one of the major economic power houses in Africa i love their hard work and their pain is my pain , i hope they recover.
Kenya is a great nation long live Uhurro Kenyata and Wiliam ruto and Amina Muhammad.
Somalis are just a bunch of haters they are jealous of Kenya and they wish death and destruction upon our Kenyan brothers.

Somalis are also jealous of Somaliland, right. Somalilanders, a very noble ethnic group and their religion of Somalilandism have an opportunity to thrive if they team up with Kenyans in exterminating Somalis.Khalid Ali wrote:Somalis are just a bunch of haters they are jealous of Kenya and they wish death and destruction upon our Kenyan brothers.

GeesiyadiiSoomaaliya go find a tree to hump. I can't be bothered with your nonsense right now.
That's what I mean. I'm feeling really bad for Kenyans right now and so proud of them. At the same time I can't help feeling disappointed when I think about the reality of Somalia. I get annoyed with LamaG when he says certain things but I really do think we fool ourselves and our arrogance can't mask the reality of our situation.GeoSeven wrote:It's just wrong. Yeah that's the point. That's the brutal truth. Nolosha qimaha ey leedahay aan iloowney or maybe waligeed qiimo ma nala laheyn.
I heard this song "ninki dhoof ku yimid bay geeridu dhibeysa" caqli xumadaas as if dying is something to be proud of. Adiga nah wa in ey ku dhibto maybe then you wouldn't be in such a rush in aad dagaal gashid. Yes I can appreciate the context of being attacked and fighting to protect your own but still it's a pretty ridiculous thing to say and it just reaffirms the lack of respect for human life, of our own people's lives.

I really don't know why whenever violent tragedy occurs people freak out when they know deep down that no one is immune to violence, and that security is only temporary no matter where you live.

That's a very peculiar thing to say. So we're all moments away from a violent attack is what you're saying?
