Puntland State of Somalia

PRESS RELEASE
22 September 2013

Puntland Government strongly condemns the heinous and ruthless attack by Al Shabaab terrorist group on civilians shopping at Westgate Mall in Nairobi, Kenya. The people and Government of Puntland send heartfelt condolences to the people and Government of the Republic of Kenya.

Puntland President H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Mohamud (Farole) sent a letter of condolence to Kenya, expressing Puntland State’s strong condemnation of terrorism and sharing condolences and solidarity with Kenya and its President H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, in the fight against terrorism and the noble efforts to restore stability in Somalia.

“The attack is indicative that the threat of terrorism recognizes no national boundaries and underlines seriousness of the shared threat of terrorism in our region,” wrote President Farole.

The aspiration of Puntland and the Somali people is to overcome security challenges and to achieve lasting peace, stability and progress in Somalia.

Somali Ambassador to Kenya has already sent condolence to Kenya. No one cares about Faroole's Tacsi grapping and Competition. The people of Somalia has been represented by their ambassador. He can just shut the fock up and Send whatever that he has to the foreign Ministry office so it can be delivered by proper authority.

Faroole waa Oday qaraab ah oo isku dhexyaacay. So he is the Somali foreign minister now that he can send condolence to foreign states? bull shit.

I expect Uhuru to take a much firmer stance in J/Land.
If Madobe has got any sense he will be on the phone to Uhuru, planning how to take revenge.

The despicable perpetrators of this cowardly act hoped to intimidate, divide and cause despondency among Kenyans. They would like us to retreat into a closed, fearful and fractured society where trust, unity and enterprise are difficult to muster.  An open and united country is a threat to evildoers everywhere.

-Uhuru

If Kenyatta withdraws into what has been the traditional comfort zone of Kenya’s military and civilian leadership, it will mean that the most powerful (and still, even after today, by far the most stable) east African country is backing away from its vital role in solving east Africa’s most pressing regional security challenge.  But if Kenyatta launches a hasty, retributive wave into southern Somalia in the weeks or months ahead, he could also risk drawing Kenyans further into a quagmire — with the possibility of future al-Shabab terrorist attacks within Kenya.  Striking the right balance will be crucial.
