Khalid the spy was being questioned at police head quarters, "All right khalid" said the detective "where did u hide the secret document that you stole from the state department?"
Khalid replied "I was afraid to be caught with it, when i saw your man trailing me i ran into a library and hid it in a book, i knew you would have a hard time finding it in all those books, i put it between pages 123 and 124, but i was so intent on remembering those numbers that i forgot the name of the book and now i dont know where it is "
"YOU ARE LYING! " said the detective "tell me where u really put it "
QUESTION:..> how did the detective KNOW from what khalid said above, that he was INDEED LYING?
what gave him away ?
Note: i have not left anything out the story so the answer is there but r u clever enuff 2 spot it ?
the cop knowing he was lying has nothing 2 do with facial expression , stuttering, pupils dialating etc.
ITS ALL IN THE TEXT
analyse this, i would love 2 see who amongst u works this out
btw i would not give the answer untill i see reasonable replys.

I can't really see the answer. Maybe I am trying to hard. Anyway why would he tell them where it is if he doesn't want them to find it. He said he didn't want to be caught with it so why tell where he hid it or even that he hid it somewhere.

The interogating officers always say to criminals you are lying in order to get what they want.

Wait, wait he knew hewas lying because Khalid is a spy meaning he works for someone else so as soon as got the document he would have turned it over to his employers he wouldn't hold onto it.

-He lied by saying he was 'afriad' to be caught with it...he wanted the document, the cops after him wanted to retrieve it from him, everyone knew he had the document...so his excuse he was afraid to get caught with it is bogus.

I think the part that he forget the name of the book, how can he remember the page nr and forget the name of the book?
That's like having a room number without any a name of the Motel.

-Why did he memorise the pages and Not the section of the Library,Aisles, the rows?
-The title of the book and the pages are not important.
-The size of the Document must be larger than the book itself!(Cause Detectives know their missing Document)
Hope i cracked your case

A book can be checked out too so any person with a brain would not hide something in a book at a library.
