I just hope that the world powers especially the UN share the same opinion in building the Somali army, as they are the only capable force to defeat the terrorists!

Prof Samatar is correct only a resourced army well trained well equipped well prepared can completely defeat Alshabaab. But the willingness in here needs to come from the Somalis themselves the Somali generals colonels Military officers need to show they are prepared and determined to reinstate and reorganize the Somali defense capabilities. Amisom cannot defeat Alshabaab only Somalis can defeat Alshabaab , Amisom might defeat them on the ground and capture towns and cities but who is going to fill the vacuum. You need well trained well conscripted Somali army officers.

The payment of the army officers need to be processed on time and corruption needs to be fought. The Europeans and the rest of the international community can assist support and show their commitment to Somalia but the foundation to fight for the Somali state needs to come from Somalis themselves. The Europeans and the rest of the IC will not do the dirty work for Somalia because Kenya Ethiopia Uganda are much more valued on the international stage than Somalia and. Kenya even despite its human rights abuses its still the darling of the west.

Uganda supports Gay rights in Africa they are number one and the international community rewards them for their efforts in Somalia. Once Somalis build the foundation of their army and rebuild the central command they can demand 70% of the money the west pumps into the African union Amisom forces. You will have more diplomatic leverage, on the international stage. And you can demand their withdrawal if they dont meet your standards,the reason why Somalia gets Limited Military aid is because the situation is not certain. For the western countries and the African states for both them its policy based on mutual interests. But Somalis have themselves to blame the incompetence comes from the leadership. And the Somali public is also divided, and reconciliation is required, to rebuild the country defense institutions, the trust of the country defense institutions was so badly damaged during the siad bare regime, it will take allot for the defense institutions to be trusted again. Whats the point of giving solutions to 'Somali lands' problems if you pray for the inhabitants (aka Somalis) of 'Somali lands' demise ?

Even if these statements would receieve some attention there is opposition to arming Somalia, espically from our neighbours. Whats important to them and first priority is a weak Somalia then their stability.

Yeah he is a brother of professor ahmed samatar but unlike of him he is a radical. I'm glad he said this because he use to be anti-tfg wich made him sound support the islamists.

Nick kay is now asking for more 5,000 amisom. Like professor samater said give 1/2 of amisom funds to the SNA...if the army needs reform it needs funds to do so!
