A Nation of Raped Boys: Chris Brown & Rape Culture Among Men

Have any of read the Guardian article where Chris Brown admitted he lost his virginity at age 8? I couldn't believe it. He actually said that it allowed him to "be a beast at it now." I was incredulous. The promiscuity, the unexplained anger, the brutal assault on Rihanna (I don't know much about it, but it was still traumatizing for both parties). It's obvious that he has a lot of pain and trauma that he hasn't dealt with yet.

We need to have an honest discussion about rape culture. We need to talk about consent. An 8 year old cannot consent to sex. He doesn't have the capacity to understand what the act entails. He was sexually assaulted. He was raped. Patriarchy encourages him to act out his sexual aggression; violently if need be. Patriarchy assumes women are worthless after rape. However, tells men, they have worth after the fact.
Can you imagine? Can you imagine being sexually abused and then growing up being told that this is a good thing? That your sexual potency has been enhanced? That rape was a “head-start” into the wonderful world of sex? The damaging system that tells girls they are worthless after rape has a disgusting flip side for boys: you have worth now. This violence has made you a god.
I can't imagine being a man and denied permission to express pain. To be granted the space to truly address the trauma and cope. It's just as hard being a woman--although people are a lot more understanding and sympathetic because women are seen as meek to begin with. Ugh.

Children deserve a childhood; permission to be children. They are not little adults. We need to protect our children. It's a lot easier to build up strong children than it is to repair broken men.

That's impossible, before puberty you can't even get an erection so how the hell can you lose your virginity?

As much as I love your topics Sal, the media sometimes has a little bit tooooooooo much fun.

This explains a lot with me :ohhh:

I was in the 4th Grade, When Mrs Henderson said I hate to stay after class because I didn't finish My reading. Then She came and sat next to Me and got really close. I got nervous and started stuttering a little bit. Then She said its Okay, continue reading and I felt her hands moving around in my pants. I for the first time wondered why My private part was getting hard and huge and that never happened before. I looked at the classroom door and I saw that it was locked. My pants were being unzipped but she couldn't pull them down because I was wearing suspenders. She cut the suspenders off with scissors. My pants fell to the ground and she told Me to touch her like this, kiss her right there which I did. She then sucked me somewhere really nice and asked me how does it feel, and I said it feels unbelivable Mrs Henderson, I can't wait to tell My friends how good I felt. She then got a big ruler and said, don't You ever and I said Yes ma'm. I guess I haven't been the same sense, but I think Mrs Henderson saw special talent in Me, and She always gave Me stars on My homework, would wink at me in class. Me and Chris Brown share something in common :troll:

You can still get erections before puberty. I suggest you go to the doctor.

He was also exposed to a lot of pronography as a child. I think he internalized the images of people engaging in the act and emulated them. Children are really good at that. The Guardian didn't approach the issue from a rape culture stance. No one seemed to bat an eye until sites like ColorLines posted an article addressing ingrained misogyny and male rape.

Rape can happen male-male, female-male, male-female and female-female. If you were not at a competent age/mental ability to consent to any form of intercourse, then you were raped. She was a teenage girl and he was an 8 year old boy.

There's a huge stigma attached to men who've been raped. Most notably in prisons and in the military. It could be within the family, in sports teams, too.

The environment have to do a lot with the way things turn up later in life. Shit that happens in the west where a person can blame all their faults for one incident in their childhood doesn't apply to us. I have been "traumatised" by a teenage girl when I was around 6 and I didn't turn up a rapist nor am I violent. As a child I probably didn't know better/had no idea what to say. But if I am completely honest, I wouldn't have said no if I knew better either. C'mon! That was raaxo without danbi :D

You've clearly been affected because you're lying. A 6 year old can't feel raaxo, they haven't developed the ability to do so.

Now I know it's raaxo but I honestly can't remember what I felt then. FYI a six year old can't penetrate so I don't know wtf she was doing. One thing I remember is the small details from that day. The color of her dirac, the sun beaming in to the room etc.

17 years older..Why so curious? I wrote that shit so I could make Sally understand human psyche is not the same everywhere. Lots of things come in to play and form ones personality. Born in a war, seen family members die, does that make me want to become a murderer?

No. It makes you a cigar smoking hardboiled man, who takes long walks in the rain while wearing a brown overcoat. You usually murmur "I've seen some things man," under your breath.
