Somalis getting along very well
I never thought I would see the day that all Somalis will get along without difficulties. I spent few months in Somalia and what I have seen really amazed me. My prediction was that we will be in a cycle of vengeance and counter-vengeance for ions, but I was proved wrong. My other prediction was that Somalis coming back from the diaspora and those who stayed home will never be able to communicate and there will always be some resentments. (I am somewhat correct in the latter) I ave seen some resentment albeit not in full explosion.
The homegrown Malis think the diaspora products are soft, out of touch, kind of ciyaal Maamo, while the diaspora think the homegrown are absolutely wild, savage and not to be trusted but tamed. Having said all that, I had a great time in both Kismayo and Mogadishu and I have conquered my fear of living there. I would go back in a blink of an eye now whereas it took years of preparations before.

There is No More Vengeance or Hatred Among the Somalis. Dagaalka wuu dhamaaday waana laga heshiiyay. Maybe the little pickeering that the Ogaden Militia in Kismaayo want to start but that would calmn down too. Its just a matter of Kenyans Leaving which will Calmn things Down Since Ragu wuu isyaqaan. Dig dig majiro doonto if its only Somali Clans without Foreign Army.

Kismayo was good but it has transformed from the cool place that I knew and grew up to a more rugged, fast-paced and tense place. If reer Bani-Quulle and reer Bani Cagdheer could settle their scores amicably, I forsee a prosperous, not only Kismayo but Lower Jubba. However, we are Somalis and we always like to be the dictating ones. There are skirmishes here and there but it doesn't affect the everyday Faarax who is pursuing daily life. I could count with one hand's fingers people I recognized from my previous life, DAAMMNnn I felt like soo galooti myself.

In terms of security, which of the two cities is better now? I was in Xamar 3 months ago it seemed very safe.

Sir the best thing for Somalis right now is to live separated, through negotiations and agreement we can make economic, political ties, but we need to right now focus on rebuilding our homeland, each and everyone of us, Somalinimo is a fitna.

That is exactly what we need to do. Everybody build their homeland. With that Said, Axmad Madoobe was born and brought up in Qabri Dahare- Ethiopia. Marka Leave Kismaayo to the Natives.Adali wrote:Sir the best thing for Somalis right now is to live separated, through negotiations and agreement we can make economic, political ties, but we need to right now focus on rebuilding our homeland, each and everyone of us, Somalinimo is a fitna.

Welcome back Sir Lug!!!!!!!
Although I can NEVER trust your 'Rave Review' about Somalia and Somalis-- I would just have to say-- Well....
Good for u! (it is NO SECRET that SIR LUG is the premium ALL Nostalgic Mali resident of Somalinet. Days and Night we would hear your dreams and rants and desires about a quaint Somali Utopia- or at least Re-living the old Somalia. )
Although your reviews are unreliable and unrealistic-- I wish to WELCOME YOU BACK DARLING!
PS: Nice Touch including Xamar in your 'visits'! I rather suspect u ONLY went to KISMAYO but are just coy as usual.

Glad you had a good time. Last time i saw both places were during the civil war. And haven't been back for over 15+ yrs. I'd love to go back someday insha'allah, markaan lacag helo. More so Xamar than anywhere else, since it's my birth place place and still have connections to it (few distant family members live there). I'd love to goto Shabeelada dhexe, but i have no connections to it. My Eedo who lived there died in 2008, AUN so i wouldn't know anyone there.

Re: Somalis getting along very well
Salaam old timers,
Salool aka Xelwa aka my beloved wife-to-be, how are you? Why have u abandoned the place when I came back? I am still counting the days
Basra,
The era u r talking about is over. The days that I would daydream about my potential retirement in Kismayo and living in nostalgia is over. The days I longed for a brief visit to the homeland is long gone and the days of me being Cigaal Shidaad progeny.
Sir-Luggoyo has finally landed in Kismayo, visited the hospital I was born in (despite the ruins, it was still there) went home and slept in my own room, the room I spent so many nights aloof of the worls around me. I went to the little field I used to play soccer and the school I started my first grade. The little Xalwa shop I used to frequent with my dad, I was told the owner (Baasandi) died. Basically I went every little cranny and nook that held memory for me.
Basra, Imagine me being the deputy governor of Kismayo?!!!! If u marry me, you could simply be the Second Lady of Kismayo
that is a to-die-for title now in Kismayo.
Jam,
Securitywise, I think they are the same: One is being taunted by Al-Shabaab and the other Ilko-Yar

Re: Somalis getting along very well
sir, i was back home and believe me there is a huge cultural clash between diaspora and locals. even me who i consider myself somehow conservative and agains mainstream, couldnt survive longer. plan was to stay there at least 6 months. big gap in term of priorities between 2 groups.
tho youth in jigjiga and diredaa try very hard to imitate western culture and cloths , they even wear sorwaal futada ka da'aya. ilbahnimo doon ka tahay. lol
